Crystal Palace v Arsenal

Crystal Palace v Arsenal
Arsenal will be in action on Sunday afternoon when they make the short trip across the city to face Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace in this fascinating English Premier League betting encounter.

The Gunners are on an impressive run of ten straight wins in all competitions, and will be looking to maintain the rich vein of form on their trip to Selhurst Park this weekend.

Unai Emery’s charges register an impressive comeback to trounce Leicester City 3-1 at the Emirates in their last Premier League outing. The Foxes enjoyed the opening salvo as they undermined the hosts by creating a flurry of chances; deservedly taking the lead at the half hour mark, albeit through an own goal.

Leicester broke off with a brisk counter attack that saw Ben Chilwell’s attempted low cross from the left strike Hector Bellerin’s boot before being diverted past his own goalkeeper who had already committed himself in the opposite direction.

Irked by the goal and eager to make amends for his mistake, the Spanish fullback played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s timely equalizer that came right before the break. Bellerin, who was at full flight on the right wing, received the ball from Mesut Ozil in the final third and delivered a perfectly weighted cross; one which the German midfielder converted with an exquisite left-footed finish in off the far post.

With the equalizer, Arsenal’s performance in the second half was at full tilt, as the hosts plugged up their attacking duties to reclaim the lead through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who scored two goals in quick succession.

Bellerin was once again at the centre of the action, as 23-year old played the ball square into the path of Aubameyang after Ozil’s pass split the Leicester defense wide open; the Gabon international doing the honors by tapping it in from close range just two minutes after replacing Stephan Lichtsteiner.

The third goal was however the pick of the bunch, conceivably mirroring just how much Unai’s buoyant and exuberant style of play has rubbed off on his players. Ozil, who put up a man of the match performance on his injury return, set the move in motion at the middle of the park before his uncanny flick set up Aubameyang for the simplest of finishes.

The victory elevated Arsenal to fourth on the table with 21 points-a place above bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur by virtue of a superior goal difference.

Crystal Palace on the other hand saw red as they sustained their sixth defeat in nine Premier League games at the hands of Everton last weekend. The Eagles had managed to contain the hosts for the vast majority of the match, and looked to be salvaging a vital point against an in-form Everton side at Goodison Park-until everything came crumbling down like a pile of rubble with three minutes of the ninety remaining.

Marco Silva’s tactical awareness secured maximum points for his side, as both goals were scored by substitutes.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin headed in the goal that could have been enough to seal the points when he met a cross by fellow substitute Ademola Lookman in the 87th minute, but Cenk Tosun, a third substitute, rounded off the late win two minutes later with a strike that undid all of Hodgson’s defensive plan.

The defeat as such has Palace 15th on the table on seven points, two measly points above the relegation zone.

It’s astounding how Unai Emery has managed to maintain Arsenal’s fine run despite having to contend with numerous injuries along the way. The Spanish manager will continue to be without the likes of Lauren Koscielny, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Carl Jenkinson who are all out on long-term injuries.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos has an ankle problem while Petr Cech is still sidelined with a hamstring injury. Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac will have to pass a late fitness test after missing Monday’s win over Leicester.

Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal betting prediction

It’s a given that the Gunners are currently enjoying their football having amassed ten wins on the bounce in all competitions. This is in sharp contrast to Palace who are evidently struggling as they have no wins in their last four Premier League matches.

Arsenal could as such swat aside Crystal Palace this weekend given the current difference in quality and form between the two sides.
