WE’VE only just finished one of the greatest World Series’ in baseball history, but the god folk at Bovada.lv have already released a market on next year’s big dance.
And guess what? The Chicago Cubs – who ended the longest title drought in baseball only last week – care the +350 favourites to go back to back in 2017.
The Cubs had not won a World Series in 108 years, but that all changed in the most remarkable of circumstances.
Down 3-1 to the Cleveland Indians, all hope looked lost for the Cubs.
But a massive turn around showed the will of a champion team, the Cubs managing to win the next two games.
It would all come down to a game seven at in Cleveland.
And what an epic it was.
It looked like the Cubs were home, leading 6-2 in the eighth innings, but the unthinkable happened.
A monstrous home run from Rajai Davis with the bases loaded gave the Indians a remarkable grand slam that tied the scores at six.
It almost fell apart for the Cubs, but they held their nerve, in the end claiming a 8-7 victory in the 10th inning.
The star studded line up should stay together, and is very short for the title, with the next best the Boston Red Sox, way out at +900.
No other team is in single figures in the market, with the vanquished Indians perhaps representing value at +1200. They should have redemption on their mind and will be keen to end their own monster drought after surrendering a 3-1 lead.

Warriors still favourite for NBA title as Cavs shorten
Despite a stop start beginning to the season, the Golden State Warriors are still one of the hottest title favourites in NBA history.
At -120, it is almost not worth punting them.
Their weaponry is a remarkable offensive arsenal, the likes the NBA has never seen.
And it was underlined this week when back to back NBA Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry splashed an NBA record 13 three pointers in a win over the New Orleans Hornets.
There are noted concerns over the lack of defence brought about by the loss of Andrew Bogut in the middle, but the Warriors, with the likes of Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson are scoring machines and will be difficult to contain four times in a seven game period, as a playoff win would dictate.
But there is a reigning champion team out in the east that is doing its best to give them a run for their money.
The Cleveland Cavaliers, while they lost their first game of the season today, have shortened into +300 for the title on the back of some stellar play from Kyrie Irving, LeBron James and Kevin Love.
The San Antonio Spurs are still thereabouts at +500 and that’s about where it ends, with the Los Angeles Clippers all the way out at +2000.
The Boston Celtics, at +2500, might be the only team capable of knocking off the Cavs in the East and, if they can do that, who knows what will happen in the finals.
2017 NBA Championship market:
Cleveland Cavaliers +300
San Antonio Spurs +500
Los Angeles Clippers +2000
Boston Celtics +2500
Oklahoma City Thunder +4000

Brady’s men red hot for Super Bowl 51
As they have been since Tom Brady’s return, a mountain of money has been piled on the New England Patriots to go one better than last season and claim the Super Bowl.
After losing to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50, and with Brady enduring a four game suspension to open the season, they are playing with a massive chip on their shoulder – and have been practically unstoppable.
The Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks are the only other teams in single figures – both sharing the second line of betting at +800 – but really, they feel like nuisance value at this point in the season.
2017 Super Bowl 51 market:
Dallas Cowboys +800
Seattle Seahawks +800
Kansas City Chiefs +1600
Green Bay Packers +1600
Atlanta Falcons +1600
Pittsburgh Steelers +1600
