Real Madrid registered their first La Liga win this season as they beat newly promoted Real Valladolid 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Goalless at the break, Fede Valverde scored for the hosts five minutes into the second half, before substitute Brahim Diaz doubled their lead two minutes to stoppage time.
18-year-old Endrick Felipe, who came on for Kylian Mbappe on his Real Madrid debut, added a third deep into injury time to wrap up a dominant display by the champions.
Speaking after the win, manager Carlo Ancelotti praised Endrick, who made the switch to Madrid this summer from Brazilian side Palmeiras, having penned a deal two years ago.
“He looks good,” said Ancelotti. “He has great potential, and with the goal, he showed all his qualities. He has good control, and a good shot.”
“He’s a penalty box forward. In small spaces, he’s very, very dangerous.”
Nevertheless, the Real Madrid boss was also forced to address concerns over Mbappe, who has yet to score this season since being switched from a winger to a striker.
“No, I don’t think so at all,” Ancelotti said. “[Mbappé] is a spectacular forward, he’s very fast, he moves well without the ball.
“He had three chances. I think in that position he’ll score, as he’s always scored. I don’t think he has to play on the left or the right. He’ll score goals.”
Despite his lack of goals, soccer betting sites are paying +120 for Mbappe to score 35 or more goals this season.
With four points from two games and having disappointingly drawn 1-1 with Mallorca on the opening weekend, the Blancos sit third on the table behind Barcelona and Celta Vigo, who are level on six points.
Real Madrid will be at the Gran Canaria Stadium on Thursday night, where online betting sites have them as -227.27 favourites to beat hosts Las Palmas (+597).
