Matchweek 30 of the 2022/23 English Premier League season will feature eight games on Saturday afternoon. Tottenham taking on Brighton is set to be the standout match, with both teams fighting for a place in the top four. Read on for our best bets on Saturday’s EPL action.
Manchester United vs Everton
12:30pm BST
Manchester United will host Everton at Old Trafford in the traditional lunchtime kickoff on Saturday, with the Red Devils coming off a much-needed 1-0 win over Brentford on Wednesday night. United needed to find a way to win against Brentford after going on a three-game winless streak that included two big losses to Liverpool and Newcastle. On Saturday, they will host Everton, who are only goal difference away from the relegation zone in 16th place. Any points earned by Everton at Old Trafford would be a huge boost to their chances of remaining in the Premier League at the end of the season.
Manchester United/Over 1.5 goals
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Chelsea
3pm BST
If we had told you at the start of the season that the match between Chelsea and Wolverhampton would be a battle between two struggling mid-table clubs, you would have thought we were crazy. However, this is exactly what we have with the Wolves hosting the Blues at Molineux Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with the hosts in 14th place and the visitors in 11th. Wolves have two losses and a draw in their last three games, while the Blues have one loss and two draws in their last three. Both of these teams will be hoping to get the three points in this clash, however, with the quality that Chelsea has at their disposal, they should be getting a much-needed win.
Chelsea to win
Tottenham Hotspur vs Brighton & Hove Albion
3pm BST
The weekend’s highlight event will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, with both teams coming into this game with similar form lines from their previous five games. Spurs are unbeaten in their last three games, including a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest and back-to-back draws with Southampton and Everton. Meanwhile, the Seagulls are unbeaten in their last five games, with victories over West Ham, Crystal Palace, and Bournemouth, as well as draws with Leeds and Brentford. The previous two meetings between these teams resulted in only one goal, with each team winning 1-0. With so much at stake, we see both teams splitting the points.
Draw
Fulham vs West Ham United
3pm BST
Both Fulham and West Ham are coming off disappointing performances, with Fulham losing 2-1 to Bournemouth and West Ham being thrashed 5-1 by Newcastle in the previous week. The Cottagers don’t have the best record against the Hammers, with the boys in claret and blue winning four of their last five meetings. The Hammers are fighting for their Premier League survival this season, and a win over Fulham will boost their chances.
West Ham United to win
Leicester City vs Bournemouth
3pm BST
Leicester will host Bournemouth at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they continue life without Brendan Rodgers as manager. Their first game without Rodgers did not go as planned, as they lost 2-1 at home to Aston Villa during the week. The defeat to Aston Villa extended the Foxes’ winless streak to seven games, putting them right in the thick of the relegation battle. If they don’t pick up some points over the next few games, they could be relegated. Bournemouth, their opponents and fellow relegation battlers, won well last weekend before travelling to Brighton during the week. This could be one of the more high-scoring games of the weekend, so we’ll be betting on some goals being scored.
Over 2.5 goals
Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest
3pm BST
Aston Villa have been one of the hottest teams in the Premier League since the beginning of March, winning four of their last five games, with Ollie Watkins leading the attack and scoring in eight of their last 10 games. Villa will host Nottingham Forest at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon, looking to extend their five-match unbeaten streak and record their fourth win in a row. Nottingham Forest are currently two goals above the relegation zone on goal difference, so any points they can get from this game will be crucial to their chances of staying in the Premier League. With Ollie Watkins in such good form at the moment, he appears to be a good bet to score again for Villa in what could be a big win.
Ollie Watkins to score anytime
Brentford vs Newcastle United
3pm BST
The final of the 3pm kick-off games will take place at Gtech Community Stadium, with ninth-placed Brentford hosting third-placed Newcastle for the third time in England’s top flight. The Bees enter this match against the Magpies fresh off a 1-0 loss to Manchester United last week, their first defeat in their last four games. Newcastle, on the other hand, has won their last four games against Wolverhampton, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United, and West Ham, with their most recent 5-1 demolition of West Ham being one of their better performances of the season. With Brentford scoring in their last eight home games and Newcastle scoring 7 goals in their last two away games, this match appears to be a high scoring affair, so the Both Teams To Score/Over 2.5 Goals double looks the play.
Both teams to score/Over 2.5 goals
Southampton vs Manchester City
5:30pm BST
The final match of the day will pit last-placed Southampton against second-placed Manchester City at St Mary’s Stadium at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Saints are currently in last place with 23 points, two points behind second-last, and with their current form, they appear destined to be relegated at the end of this season. At the other end of the table, the ‘Citizens’ are closing in on the league leaders, trailing Arsenal by eight points with one game in hand. Last weekend, Pep Guardiola’s team handed out an old-fashioned beating to Liverpool in the second half of their game, and we expect a very similar performance from them this weekend.
Manchester City -2
