Fanatics Sportsbook launches mobile sports betting in Massachusetts

Fanatics gambling news

Fanatics Sportsbook entered its third state after Ohio and Tennessee on Thursday when it launched its online sports betting app in Massachusetts.

The sportsbook sent out an invitation with an access code to existing Fanatics customers eligible to place bets to participate in the beta testing phase of the app.

Bettors that are not Fanatics customers but want to try out the sportsbook can do so by downloading the app and joining the waitlist. Another way to receive an invitation to the beta stage is by filling out a survey provided by the sportsbook.

Customers invited to the beta phase will receive a $200 welcome bonus when they place a bet of up to $5.

“Beginning today, Fanatics customers in Massachusetts will be contacted by Fanatics Betting and Gaming to join the extended beta testing program for the Fanatics Sportsbook,” a statement from the company read.

“Eligible customers will receive a code to gain access to the Fanatics Sportsbook and non-Fanatics customers can download the app on iOS and Android to join the waiting list.”

Fanatics Betting and Gaming previously set June as its launch date in Massachusetts but decided to start a few days ahead. The launch was just hours ahead of an important game between the Celtics and the Miami Heat.

Sports betting was legalized in Massachusetts on August 1, 2022, and the public gained access to retail betting on January 31, ahead of the Super Bowl. Online betting joined the fray on March 10 for March Madness.

Fanatics is now the eighth online sportsbook in Massachusetts after BetMGM, FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars Sportsbook, WynnBET, Barstool Sportsbook, and Betr.

The company was issued regulatory approval by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission on May 17 to offer its products in the state.

DraftKings is currently the leading sportsbook in the Massachusetts market, having generated 52% of its sports betting handle for April and a 48.4% revenue share. FanDuel and BetMGM are not far ahead.

Fanatics is set to launch next in Maryland with a goal of around 12-15 states before the start of the NFL betting season, according to the company’s CEO, Michael Rubin. It already operates a retail outlet at FedEx Field, which is the first sports book situated in an NFL stadium.
