Formula 1 Austria Grand Prix 2026 betting tips & F1 odds

Our Austrian Grand Prix betting preview breaks down the F1 odds, Mercedes’ chances, Verstappen’s podium value and Gasly’s top-six price.

Austria Formula 1

Formula 1 heads to Spielberg this weekend for the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix, with the Red Bull Ring hosting Round 8 of the season from June 26-28.

Austria arrives after a dramatic race in Barcelona, where Lewis Hamilton beat George Russell and Lando Norris to take a huge win for Ferrari. The race also delivered a major twist for Kimi Antonelli, who looked set for another big result before an engine failure took him out of P2 with just six laps remaining.

That result changes the feel of this weekend. Antonelli still heads the market and remains the championship benchmark, but the pressure has clamped back down after his Barcelona retirement. Mercedes still looks like the best car on the grid, yet the gap between Antonelli at +175 and Russell at +300 makes the other Silver Arrow the more tempting betting swing.

The Red Bull Ring is short, fast and usually unforgiving, with heavy braking zones, quick lap times and traffic always capable of turning qualifying and strategy into a headache. It is also a circuit where Max Verstappen has so often looked comfortable, which makes his podium price hard to ignore even if Red Bull has not had Mercedes-level consistency this season.

2026 Austrian Grand Prix odds

Antonelli leads the Austrian Grand Prix market at +175, but Russell sits close enough at +300 to make the Mercedes value debate interesting. Hamilton is next at +450 after winning in Barcelona, while Leclerc is rated at +600.

Verstappen is listed at +700 in the win market, but his podium quote looks the better play at a track where he has such a strong record. Norris and Piastri follow for McLaren, while Gasly remains a massive outright price despite continuing to drag Alpine into good positions this season.

  • Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) – +175
  • George Russell (Mercedes) – +300
  • Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) – +450
  • Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) – +600
  • Max Verstappen (Red Bull) – +700
  • Lando Norris (McLaren) – +1200
  • Oscar Piastri (McLaren) – +2000
  • Isack Hadjar (Red Bull) – +6600

Austrian Grand Prix 2026 betting predictions

Austria is a fascinating betting race because the market is still giving Antonelli plenty of respect, but Barcelona may have shifted the pressure back onto him. Mercedes has the quickest package, yet the best value on the board looks to be Russell at the bigger price.

Behind the Mercedes pair, Verstappen’s outright quote is tempting at his home-team circuit, but the podium market looks safer. Gasly also remains impossible to ignore in the top-six market, given how often he has been punching above Alpine’s normal level this season.

George Russell to win

Russell to win at +300 is the main play this weekend. The pressure has clamped back down on Antonelli after his late engine failure in Barcelona, and while he is still the favourite, +175 feels short enough to look elsewhere.

From a betting perspective, Russell at +300 looks like the better swing in what still appears to be the best car on the grid. He was second last time out, he has the experience to keep the weekend clean, and Austria is a race where a strong qualifying position can set up the entire Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen podium finish

Verstappen for a podium at +160 looks a lovely price at a circuit where he normally goes very well. Red Bull has not been as clean as Mercedes this season, but the Red Bull Ring has often brought the best out of Verstappen, and he does not need to win the race for this bet to land.

The short lap should keep the front group close, and traffic can make qualifying awkward for everyone. If Verstappen starts near the first two rows, he is more than capable of forcing his way into the top three, especially if Mercedes or Ferrari split strategies and open the door.

Pierre Gasly top-six finish

Gasly to finish top six at +450 is the midfield bet that keeps making sense. He has been driving unbelievably well this year, regularly putting Alpine in and around the top-six conversation despite not having a car that looks anything close to the front-runners on raw pace.

Austria can reward drivers who stay sharp and avoid trouble, especially when the field is bunched by short lap times. If Gasly qualifies well and keeps himself out of the early mess, +450 is a strong price for a driver who has been squeezing everything out of the Alpine all season.
