French Open women’s semifinals best bets – June 2, 2022

French Open betting picks - June 2, 2022

Iga Swiatek will look to extend her 33-match winning streak with a victory this Thursday over Darya Kasatkina in the 2022 French Open semifinals. Here’s our betting prediction for that match as well as our top play in the Cori Gauff vs Martina Trevisan matchup in this Thursday’s French Open best bets for the women’s semifinals.

Darya Kasatkina (+615) vs Iga Swiatek (-850)

There isn’t much more that can be said about Iga Swiatek, who hasn’t lost since February 16 and has rolled to wins in the Qatar Open, Indian Wells Masters, Miami Open, Stuttgart Open, and Italian open during her current 33-match win streak. All but six of those wins have come in straight sets. The 2020 French Open champion looks well on her way to another title here at Roland Garros.

But with no betting value to be found on Swiatek as a massive -850 favorite, we’re actually going to take a shot on Darya Kasatkina as a 6.5-game underdog. Kasatkina has been blown out by more than 6.5 games in her last three matches against Swiatek, so the spread makes sense. But the Russian is in excellent form right now; she hasn’t dropped a set in this tournament and has won her five matches by an average of 7.4 games each. Even a 3-6, 3-6 loss would be enough to cover here, and we think she can muster up enough of a fight to produce a result like that.

Cori Gauff (-275) vs Martina Trevisan (+230)

Cori Gauff has shown flashes of brilliance throughout her young career, but those moments have come with some of the slow starts and struggles that we often see from young players. This 2022 French Open could finally be where Gauff is putting it all together. She hasn’t had the toughest path to this point, but she’s won all five of her tournament matches in straight sets including her last two wins over Elise Mertens and Sloane Stephens. This is her semifinal matchup to lose.

As was the case in the other semifinal however, there’s just too much value on the red-hot underdog to pass up on. Martina Trevisan is in outstanding form with 10 straight wins, and she’s held up well under pressure in tough matches against Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Leylah Fernandez in the French Open. Gauff likely gets the job done, but with two players playing great and making their Grand Slam semifinal debuts, Trevisan pushing this one to three sets or winning outright doesn’t seem that unlikely.

Martina Trevisan +1.5 sets
