Future NFL hall of fame WR Julio Jones signs with Tampa Bay

Julio Jones Signs With Tampa Bay Buccaneers

One of the NFL’s best remaining free agents, Julio Jones, has agreed to a one year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he will link up with Tom Brady. Julio has been one of the best wide receivers in the NFL over the past ten years and while he has been injured in recent seasons, he still has been very good when he is able to suit up. At 33 years old, the clock is ticking on Julio but he is expected to make a big impact on the Bucs.

Julio had six straight seasons with over 1,300 receiving yards from 2014- 2019 but he has struggled in the past two seasons and this will be his third team in three years. After spending 10 years with the Atlanta Falcons, Julio was traded to the Tennessee Titans last year. It didn’t work in Tennessee as Julio was only able to play in 10 games where he had 31 catches for 434 yards and one touchdown. That being said, he did have some highlight catches that showed the talent he still possesses. Now, with Tom Brady, he could be in for a big season.

Julio will join a very talented receiving core that already features Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Since 2014, Julio has the most receiving yards in the NFL and Mike Evans has the most receiving touchdowns across the league. While they may be aging, Tom Brady should get a lot of out his receivers and as long as they stay healthy, they could be in for a big season. The Bucs had both Rob Gronkowski and Antonio Brown retire from last year’s team so there is a need for Julio. It’s expected he will become one of Brady’s favorite targets.

Regardless of what Julio does in this coming season, he will still be a Hall of Famer. He has been one of the most dominant receivers in NFL history and is a seven time pro bowler. The talent is still there, but it’s been injuries that have held him back. Hopefully, for entertainment’s sake, he can stay healthy and dominate with Tom Brady.

Julio is currently +7500 to win the NFL’s comeback player of the year award and that’s very good value with the top betting sites. Of course, it hinges on his ability to stay on the field but few players can dominate the way Julio can. If he is healthy all year, with Tom Brady as his QB, Julio should put up some crazy numbers and be in contention for this award. It’s a longshot bet, but at these odds, it’s worth a shot

Even if Julio can’t stay healthy, the Bucs should be one of the best teams in the NFL. Tom Brady may be turning 45 soon, but he is still a top five quarterback in the league. At this point, it would be foolish to rule Brady out due to his age as he has shown no signs that his age is catching up to him. The Bucs have a win total line of 11.5 wins and considering their schedule, that’s a good bet. Tampa Bay should dominate their division and they have gone 24-9 in the regular season over the past two years with Brady. We expect their dominance to carry on in this coming season.

The Bucs are also one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl and their odds are sitting at +700. While they definitely could win the Super Bowl and should make a deep playoff run, we don’t recommend betting them right now. Super Bowl odds are typically shifting week to week and they are too short right now. There should be better opportunities to bet on the Bucs throughout the season and they should be a team to keep your eye on. With Brady at the helm, Tampa Bay will be a force all season but the odds are not worth it at this point. Still though, the Bucs have a chance to be very good and their new receiving option will be a big part of that.
