Sean Strickland and Uriah Hall will both put four-fight winning streaks on the line when they clash in the main event of UFC Vegas 33 this Saturday night. The winner of this fight will take another step towards a title shot in the UFC’s deep middleweight division.

Hall vs Strickland main event preview

Uriah Hall (17-9-0) was once a highly touted prospect that strung together a 5-1 record from 2013 through 2015. Hall then hit a wall and proceeded to lose four of his next five fights, but since UFC 232 he has been enjoying a career resurgence with four straight wins over Bevon Lewis, Antonio Carlos Junior, Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman. Six of Hall’s last seven wins have come by way of knockout, as have 13 of his 17 career wins.

Sean Strickland (23-3-0) has never lost a fight in the middleweight division. After going 15-0 as a middleweight, including a six-fight reign as the KOTC Middleweight Champion and a 2-0 run in his first two UFC fights, Strickland dropped to welterweight in 2015. He went 5-3 at that class before moving back up to middleweight in 2020 after a two-year hiatus. Strickland has proceeded to win three straight fights against Jack Marshman, Brendan Allen and Krzysztof Jotko to improve to 18-0 in his career as a middleweight.

Hall vs Strickland betting predictions

You couldn’t really be making a big mistake taking a shot on Uriah Hall at these odds. His power is undeniable and he is always one well-timed shot away from ending the fight with a knockout. The main criticism on Hall, however, is how infrequently he throws punches, as he is often waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

This strategy isn’t likely to work against a boxer as strong as Sean Strickland is. Strickland has only been knocked out once in his career; he has a strong chin and isn’t afraid of a good brawl. Considering that he throws far more significant strikes than Hall does and has the stronger chin (each of Hall’s last three losses have been by knockout), this seems like a good matchup for Strickland on paper as long as he doesn’t lose focus and get caught with a surprise shot. We’re willing to bet that he doesn’t, and that he eventually finds a knockout shot of his own.
