Harrington Raceway & Casino back open after technical issues

After an unexpected temporary shutdown due to “technical difficulties,” the Harrington Raceway & Casino reopened its doors to customers on Saturday.

The Delaware-based company made the announcement on Friday night via its official Facebook page and were back open to ring in the New Year.

The Harrington Raceway and Casino’s New Year’s Eve party announced for 9:30 pm Saturday was also held as planned.

The gaming operator is one of the three raceway and casino operators in Delaware, suddenly halted activities after facing some technical issues.

An automated message was sent out to patrons, explaining that the casino would not open for the first Wednesday shift and that scheduled employees for the second and evening shift should be on “standby.”

Harrington Raceway and Casino released a brief statement on their Facebook page on Thursday afternoon; however, the company did not reveal the initial cause of the shutdown.

The Delaware gambling operator only said that the technical issues were “causing a temporary disruption” to the company’s gaming and computer systems. They further explained that considerable resources, such as cybersecurity specialists, were being put to use to resolve the issue.

“We are working diligently to investigate the source of the disruption, confirm its impact on our systems, and restore full functionality to our affected systems as quickly as possible,” the statement read.

Calls and inquiries concerning the casino were redirected to Nicole Boone, the company’s Executive Administrative Assistant.

Helene Keeley, the Lottery Director of Delaware, revealed that around noon on Tuesday, the CEO of Harrington Raceway, Patti Key reached out to her to disclose that the company would close down due to unspecified technical difficulties.

“Harrington Raceway is a private company, and we are confident they will make the proper decisions for its business and its customers,” Keeley said in a statement.

In May, Harrington Raceway and Casino announced plans to remodel its gaming floor to the most recent version of the IGT ADVANTAGE casino management system. This would provide greater flexibility for gaming machines and use real time floor updates to improve the venue’s performance.

The new management system will allow the gaming venue to provide offers such as bonuses and rewards, personalized in-game offers, and make available mobile loyalty cards.
