Jonathan Taylor unhappy at Colts with NFL season looming

Colts NFL betting news

The NFL season is set to kick off in less than two weeks, and while most players are settled in their situations for the upcoming campaign, Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is not among them.

Taylor is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is seeking a long-term deal. Consequently, the Colts have been hesitant to meet his demands and have even entertained trade offers for their star playmaker.

According to Colts beat writer Stephen Holder, six teams have reached out to the team regarding the possibility of acquiring Taylor’s services. The running back would undoubtedly be an asset for most teams. Despite battling injuries throughout the last season, he managed to accumulate over 1,000 total yards, although he only scored four touchdowns.

Taylor burst onto the scene two years ago as a sophomore running back, amassing 1,811 rushing yards and scoring 20 total touchdowns. During that year, he firmly established himself as an elite talent and a genuine game-changer in his position. Despite the ups and downs of the past season, he is still only 24 years old, with several years of elite performance potentially ahead of him.

Another concern is that Taylor is reportedly nursing an ankle injury. Should this injury prove significant, the Colts might contemplate placing him on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list, thereby rendering him ineligible to play until week five.

Nevertheless, teams continue to submit offers to the Colts. While some may not be willing to meet Indy’s asking price of a first-round pick, they are still expected to part with substantial assets.

As of now, Taylor is listed at -175 with top NFL betting sites to play his first game with the Colts; however, the odds are +200 for him to join the Miami Dolphins – a team that has been in search of a new running back throughout the offseason.

The other teams in contention for acquiring Taylor’s services include the Chicago Bears at +1100, Baltimore Ravens at +1200, and Denver Broncos at +1800, with the Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys paying +2000 apiece.
