La Liga 2021/22 Matchweek 29 betting tips & value picks

La Liga Matchweek 29

Barcelona carries a 12-match unbeaten streak into this Sunday’s El Clasico match on the road against Real Madrid. Here’s a look at that marquee matchup as well as plays in Saturday’s Rayo Vallecano vs Atletico Madrid and Sunday’s Sevilla vs Real Sociedad in our best bets for La Liga Matchweek 29.

Rayo Vallecano vs Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid (15-6-7) continued its recent hot streak with a 2-1 win at home over Cadiz last Friday, moving to 4-0-0 over its last four games. Atletico’s offense has been on a roll over that stretch with at least two goals scored in all four of those wins. Real Vallecano (9-5-13) meanwhile snapped a six-match losing streak with a 1-1 draw against Sevilla on Sunday. Vallecano still hasn’t won since December 18 with an 0-2-7 record over its last nine matches.

Normally, a draw against a top-two team on the table could be considered a turning point. But against this Sevilla team that has been handing out draws to anyone and everyone lately, it doesn’t feel that significant. Vallecano still hasn’t scored more than a single goal in its last nine games and has a total of only three over that stretch. Against a team playing as well as Atletico Madrid, look for Rayo Vallecano to land back in the loss column in this one.

Atletico Madrid to win

Sevilla vs Real Sociedad

Sevilla (15-11-2) continued its relentless stream of draws with another one against slumping Rayo Vallecano on Sunday. This club hasn’t lost since November, but a 5-1-0 run has given way to a 2-6-0 record over Sevilla’s last eight matches. Sevilla owns La Liga’s best defense having allowed only 19 goals across 28 games, but has also scored one goal or less in eight of its last 11 games.

Real Sociedad (13-8-7) is another defensive-minded squad that picked up a 1-0 win on Sunday at home over Alaves. Sociedad has allowed zero goals in seven of its last nine games. All signs point to a 0-0 draw against Sevilla, the same score these two clubs played to back in September. Or perhaps one of these clubs finds a goal and holds on for the 1-0 win? Either way, we should be covered with a wager on the UNDER 2 goals.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona

Real Madrid (20-6-2) did not get caught looking ahead to this game against Mallorca, rolling to an easy 3-0 win to improve to 4-0-0 over its last four matches on Monday. Barcelona (14-9-4) also took care of business in the game at hand on Sunday with a 4-0 win at home over Osasuna and also improved to 4-0-0 over its last four games. The club has compiled an 8-4-0 record over its last 12 games since its last loss on December 4.

This edition of El Clasico should be a blast with both teams playing at such a high level. Real Madrid handed Barcelona a 2-1 loss in their home stadium back in October. Can Barcelona return the favor this time around? You can’t really go wrong betting on either side of this matchup; getting a team as good as Real Madrid at home for better than even money odds to win can’t be a bad bet. But getting this red-hot Barcelona club at +250 is an even better one. With all three outcomes feeling like very real possibilities in this one, we’ll take a stab on Barcelona to outscore Madrid in a 2-1 or 3-2 win.
