Alaves vs Atletico Madrid

Alaves (0-0-5) is off to a simply dreadful start to the 2021-22 La Liga season. The club has scored only one goal through its first five league matches while surrendering 11, losing all five of those games outright and three of them by at least two goals.

Atletico Madrid (4-2-0) meanwhile has earned points in all six of its games played, most recently defeating Getafe 2-1 on the road on Tuesday night. Sure, a draw isn’t out of the question at home, but the betting line on this match does not accurately reflect the massive talent gap between these two clubs. Valencia vs Athletic Bilbao

Valencia (3-1-2) enters Matchweek 7 holding onto a top four spot in La Liga with 10 points. The club was undefeated through its first four matches before losing to Real Madrid 2-1 on Sunday and Sevilla 3-1 on Tuesday. Before those two losses against two of La Liga’s top three teams, Valencia had outscored its first four opponents by nine goals to two.

Athletic Bilbao (2-3-1) is also winless in its last two games with a draw on the road against Atletico Madrid on Saturday and a 2-1 loss at home to Rayo Vallecano on Tuesday. We are going to take our chances on Valencia in this match. Bilbao’s stingy defense makes goals difficult to come by, but at home, we like Valencia’s odds to grind out a goal or two and the win in what should be a competitive match.

Sevilla vs Espanyol

Sevilla (3-2-0) finished the 2020-21 season with the third best goals against average in La Liga allowing only 0.87 goals per game. The club has picked up where it left off last year with some more outstanding defending in 2021-22, conceding only two goals through its first five matches.

This Saturday, Sevilla hosts Espanyol (1-3-2). Espanyol has scored only four goals through its first six games, tied for fourth worst in La Liga. It’s difficult to see where the offense comes from for Espanyol in this matchup. A bet on the UNDER is tempting, but Sevilla’s offense has shown some punch at times this season with two three-goal games against Rayo Vallecano and Valencia. So we’ll go with the safer play and just take them to win outright this weekend.
