The Los Angeles Rams are off to a solid 2-0 start in their NFC title defense, yet they are slight road underdogs for Sunday night’s game against the Cleveland Browns. The Rams have won their games with balance and on the young season they rank in the top 10 in the NFL in points per game and points allowed per game.

The Browns were embarrassed in their opener and while they easily won their last game, they played a New York Jets team down to their third-string QB. However, a win is a win and Odell Beckham Jr. had a huge game. This is the first game of a killer stretch for the Browns, as after this game they face the Ravens, 49ers, Seahawks, and Patriots.

The Rams beat the New Orleans Saints 27-9 last time out, knocking Drew Brees out of the game with an injury. They had 380 total yards in the game and their defense stepped up, holding the Saints to 244 yards and only 57 rushing yards.

Jared Goff was a solid 19/28 for 283 yards with a TD and no INT and Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods combined for 194 receiving yards. Goff was sacked three times and the offensive line has to protect him in this game facing a good Cleveland pass rush led by Myles Garrett.

Todd Gurley had another game of a lightened load, managing 63 yards and a TD at just under four yards per carry. He will face a Browns defense that gave up 93 rushing yards in their last game.

On Monday night the Browns got their first win of the season with a 23-3 result against the Jets. They knocked out the NY backup QB and while facing third-stringer Luke Falk they still allowed him to pass for nearly 200 yards.

After a horrible season debut in which he threw three interceptions, Baker Mayfield played well in the win over New York and finished with 325 yards, a TD and a pick. Beckham Jr. was the big star of the game with 161 receiving yards, including an 89-yard TD catch. Nick Chubb rushed for 62 yards but only averaged 3.4 yards per carry.

The Browns’ main weakness is their offensive line and their play will be key in this game, protecting Mayfield and opening up holes for the run game. However, that will be a tall task against two-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald.

Rams vs Browns betting predictions

Los Angeles Rams -3 at -111.11 with Bovada
Many think the Browns are a playoff team this season and while they won their last game, they have not showed that yet. They will not show that in this game either, as they are in a for a long night against the NFC champion Rams. Mayfield and OBJ may flash some magic, but the Rams have a better offense and their defense will play well against the run. LA will win this game and cover the spread.
