Leicester City vs Manchester City EPL betting preview

Leicester City will play host to beleaguered champions Manchester City this weekend in Matchweek 27 of the English Premier League as the race for the remaining slots in the UEFA Champions League intensifies.

Although Man City are banned from European cup competitions for the next two years having been found guilty of breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, they can still challenge that decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). As such, the reigning champions’ domestic campaign is far from over.

The Citizens brushed aside a relegation-threatened West Ham United side with a 2-0 victory in their rearranged midweek fixture at the Etihad. That result saw Pep Guardiola’s side tighten their grip on second place and extend their advantage over third-placed Leicester City to four points.

Leicester’s trip to the Molineux last weekend ended in disappointment, as the Foxes could only settle for a 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers. While that put them further behind Man City in the race for second place, the Foxes still have a nine-point buffer on fourth-placed Chelsea.

The 2015-16 EPL champions have now gone three games without a win in all competitions. Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers may also have some concerns over his star striker, Jamie Vardy, who hasn’t found the back of the net in eight successive games.

Manchester City team news

David Silva will have to pass a late fitness test if he is to be part of the squad that travels to the King Power this Saturday. This comes after the influential midfielder was withdrawn during City’s midweek win over West Ham with a suspected knee problem.

Pep will nonetheless be boosted by the return of defensive stars Benjamin Mendy and Aymeric Laporte, who both started against the Hammers. That was Laporte’s first outing in six months.

Another player returning from a long-term injury layoff is Leroy Sane, with the German forward resuming training following a terrible knee ligament injury suffered in August last year.

Raheem Sterling remains sidelined with a hamstring problem, while Oleksandr Zinchenko will be available for selection after serving a one-match suspension as a result of a red card issued during the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Leicester City team news

Wilfred Ndidi will miss Manchester City’s visit as the Nigerian midfielder extends his absence to three matches due to a sore knee, while Papy Mendy will also miss the encounter with a knee injury.

Ghanaian midfielder Daniel Amartey has been ruled out due to an injury setback that can be traced back to the serious ankle injury suffered last season against West Ham, while Hamza Choudhury is suspended following a red card received during the goalless draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Sergio Aguero goalscorer odds and specials

There is little question over Sergio Aguero’s goalscoring credentials. The Argentine has found the back of the net 16 times in the Premier League this season, second only to Jamie Vardy and his 17 goals. With 21 goals across the board, and well in the race for the EPL Golden Boot, the ambidextrous forward has a great chance of thumping the leather past Kasper Schmeichel this Saturday.
