There will be plenty of interested onlookers when Tottenham Hotspur travel to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City on Sunday for the final matchday of the 2020/21 English Premier League season.
Leicester lifted the FA Cup last week but followed it up with a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge to Chelsea on Tuesday that has left them teetering in fifth place in the EPL standings. That makes this a must-win match if the Foxes wish to automatically qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.
Tottenham, on the other hand, are sitting seventh, so they need the three points if they wish to lock in a UEFA Europa League place. They are coming off a 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa on Wednesday, and a loss this weekend would further the Harry Kane transfer debacle.
Leicester enter the game as +105 favourites with online sportsbooks to finish their season on a high, while Tottenham are +250 chances to solidify themselves in the Europa League. There looks to be a bit of value in the draw at $4.
Leicester vs Tottenham match analysis
The Foxes enter Matchweek 38 with a mixed bag of form, but they will need to be at their best to be at their best to topple a Tottenham side who have won three of their past five Premier League games. In that stretch Spurs have dropped points at home to Aston Villa and away to Leeds, both games where they were expected to walk away with the three points.
With both teams coming off defeats, a quick start in this game could prove crucial. We expect the likes of Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy to have a big say on how this game pans out. Vardy hasn’t hit the back of the net since Leicester’s 3-0 win over West Brom back on April 23, while Kane had an unusually quiet game against Aston Villa in midweek, registering just two shots on goal for the match.
Leicester vs Tottenham betting tips
Correct score: Leicester City 2-1
The last time these two teams met at the King Power Stadium was back in 2019 when Leicester won 2-1. With a spot in the Champions League on the line, we expect the attacking prowess of Jamie Vardy, Ayoze Perez and James Maddison to be too much to contain for this shaky Tottenham back four.
Leicester City to win 2-1
Anytime goalscorer: Ayoze Perez
Leicester will have been disappointed with the output of Ayoze Perez in the 2020/21 season, with just the two goals and a single assist. He went close to scoring against Chelsea in their last match but couldn’t get past Blues keeper Edouard Mendy. The Spanish international will be looking to end a poor season on a good note, and if Perez hits the back of the net on Sunday, then the Foxes are surely on their way to the three points.
Ayoze Perez anytime goalscorer
Same game multi: 3 legs @ +975
The Foxes have been the more consistent side of the two throughout the entire EPL season, and with a win being a must for Leicester to have a chance of finishing in the Champions League places, we expect them to be hard to beat at home. We like Ayoze Perez to hit the scoresheet, and we also fancy Gareth Bale to have at least two shots on target in a game that should produce a few goals.
Over 2.5 goals / Perez anytime goal / Bale 2+ shots on
