Liverpool vs Bournemouth EPL Matchweek 29 betting preview

After their shock 3-0 loss to Watford last weekend, Liverpool will be hoping to return to winning ways when they play host to Bournemouth in Matchweek 29 of the 2019/20 English Premier League season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have hardly had a bad game in the league this season, often churning out results even when going up against very stubborn opponents. Until last Saturday, Liverpool’s only blemish in 28 EPL games was a 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

That impressive undefeated run and the possibility of matching Arsenal’s Invincibles came to a sudden and unexpected end last weekend on their trip to Vicarage Road. As though that wasn’t enough, the Reds were also knocked out of the FA Cup on Tuesday night following a 2-0 defeat away to Chelsea.

Throw in Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie and they have now lost three of their last four games in all competitions. Not all is doom and gloom at Anfield, however, as the Reds are still 22 points ahead of second-placed Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.

Bournemouth put on a determined show to draw 2-2 with Chelsea at Dean Court last weekend. Collecting a vital point against a top four side will go a long way in boosting Eddie Howe’s chances of survival as the 2019/20 EPL campaign hits the homestretch.

The Cherries currently occupy the final relegation spot on 27 points. They share that tally with Watford and West Ham United, both of whom boast a superior goal difference to the Dorset club.

Liverpool team news

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson has missed three games with a hamstring injury and will sit out again this weekend, with the midfielder now a doubt for next Wednesday’s encounter with Atletico Madrid.

Xherdan Shaqiri, who has yet to feature for the Reds this calendar year, is still battling a calf problem and Naby Keita, who missed the FA Cup defeat to Chelsea, is out with a hip problem.

Bournemouth team news

Bournemouth’s injury concerns have lessened in the last few weeks with the return of key players such as Nathan Ake and Josh King.

Nevertheless, the Cherries will be without the services of Charlie Daniels (knee), Chris Mepham (knee), Lloyd Kelly (thigh) and David Brooks (ankle) for the trip to Anfield.

Mohamed Salah is Liverpool’s leading scorer this season with 19 goals in all competitions.

However, the Egyptian went goalless in the loss to Watford and then failed to make an impact from the bench as the Reds fell flat at Stamford Bridge.

Salah is never out of the goals for long, however, and he will fancy his chances this weekend having netted seven times in his last five appearances against Bournemouth.

Having been one of the most consistent sides this season, not only in England but in Europe as well, it was quite uncharacteristic to see the Reds lose two games in quick succession. In any case, Jurgen Klopp’s side should brush aside relegation-threatened Bournemouth as they warm up for their season-defining clash with Atletico Madrid on March 11.
