In an important early season NCAA Football SEC match-up, seventh ranked Auburn plays host to 12th ranked LSU.
LSU already has a win over a top 25 team this season beating Miami in their season opener, but so does Auburn with their win over Washington in their first game.
This season both Auburn and LSU are 1-1 ATS and each has an O/U record of 1-1. Last season at home LSU beat Auburn 27-23.
LSU moved to 2-0 on the season in their last game with an easy 31-0 win over Southeastern Louisiana. The Tigers only had 81 more total yards in the game, but they forced three turnovers and rushed for 184 yards while Southeastern Louisiana only had 65 yards on the ground.
LSU quarterback Joe Burrow passed for 151 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions and in the win over Southeastern Louisiana and Stephen Sullivan led the team with 54 receiving yards. The big gun for the Tigers and the player that Auburn has to contain is Nick Brossette. In the last game he rushed for 137 yards averaging a stout 7.2 yards per carry and in beating a ranked Miami team in the season opener he rushed for 125 yards.
After two games Auburn ranks 17th in the nation in run defense and that unit will be key in this game. They held an inferior opponent in Alabama State to only 47 rushing yards in a blowout win in their last game and in their opener beating 6th ranked Washington they gave up 102 yards on the ground.

In their last game Auburn laid a 63-9 beat-down on Alabama State. They racked up 567 total yards and 429 rushing yards and held State to only 205 total yards. The Tigers stayed on the ground in the game and why not with so much success? Quarterback Jarrett Stidham passed for 113 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions and he only attempted 11 passes.
In the rout over South Alabama JaTarvious Whitlow and Shaun Shivers each rushed for at least 117 yards and each averaged at least 8.7 yards per carry. Three players for Auburn have at least 120 rushing yards after only three games and Whitlow and Shaun Shivers are each averaging at least 6.8 yards per carry. LSU ranked 14th in the nation in run defense and they have not allowed more than 83 yards on the ground in their first two games.
Well, we can be sure of one thing in that the Tigers will win this game.
However, the Tigers’ team that can run the ball has the major edge. Auburn has the slight edge when it comes to running the ball with a slew of guys, who can move the chains on the ground.
Both teams have defended the run well early on in the season, especially LSU. Still, we’re taking Auburn in this conference matchup giving 9.5 points since they have covered the spread in their last four home games against LSU.
