Manchester United vs. Juventus Champions League scoring odds & tips

Manchester Utd v Juventus

Manchester Utd v JuventusTuesday, October 23 – 8:00p.m Local time – Old Trafford, Manchester, United Kingdom

Manchester United will line up against the might of Italy when they welcome Juventus to Old Trafford in this fascinating Champions League betting encounter.

The Tuesday night encounter, which so happens to be the third match of Group H, will pit the runner-up against the group leaders as the race for the last-16 intensifies.

Juventus tops the group with six points from their first two matches and are followed by United on four points having churned out a win and a draw with Young Boys and Valencia respectively.

Jose Mourinho’s side warmed up for Juve’s visit with a 2-2 draw away to Chelsea over the weekend. It looks like a reasonable result given how United have toiled at Stamford Bridge in recent years, but the final score doesn’t even begin to tell the story of the match.

Amid the hostile reception by a team looking to go top of the table seeing as it was the first Premier League match of the weekend, Manchester United crumbled under pressure as they went behind midway through the first half courtesy of Antonio Rudiger.

Some slapstick piece of defending by Paul Pogba allowed the German international to dance his way into acres of space, before directing a powerful header past David de Gea. The visitors were however back in the saddle after the interval, as they leveled proceedings in the 55th minute through Anthony Martial.

The Frenchman, who has more often than not cut a frustrated figure this season following talks of a possible exit in the last transfer window, restored parity with an instinctive finish; this after Ashley Young’s initial shot went through a series of kind deflections on Marcus Rashford and Jorginho before reaching the 22-year old.

Beaming with confidence having scored his second goal in as many games, Anthony Martial engineered United’s comeback by doubling his account of the day. The forward was on the finishing end of a counter attack as he calmly slotted in a low finish in the 73rd minute.

For all their astute defensive play in a bid to protect the hard earned lead, Manchester United were undone in the sixth minute of additional time when Ross Barkley scored the equalizer after a goalmouth melee.

Despite touchline scuffles that ensued between Jose Mourinho and a member of Maurizio Sarri’s staff, the Portuguese earned critical acclaim for the performance-more so because his charges were given little fighting chance in the build up to the match.

Juventus on the other hand dropped points for the first time this season, as they were forced to a one-all draw with Genoa on Saturday. Cristiano Ronaldo put the Old Lady ahead in the 18th minute with the simplest of finishes after Joao Cancelo had his shot blocked.

The goal by the Portuguese skipper was the landmark 400th of his career, making him the highest goal scorer in Europe’s top five leagues. The personal feat however couldn’t be complimented by collective success, as Daniel Bessa’s equalizing header in the 67th minute denied them what could have been a ninth successive win in the current Serie A campaign.

Jose Mourinho will have to contend with the absence of Alexis Sanchez who is not fit enough for the tie, whereas doubts still linger over the fitness of Marouane Fellaini, Diogo Dalot and Marcus Rashford who featured during the draw at the Bridge.

Croatia international Mario Mandzukic has been ruled out of the trip to England as a result of an injury to his left ankle, as has Sami Khedira who is out with a muscular problem.

Manchester United vs. Juventus betting predictions

Manchester United have had a belabored start to the campaign, but the Red devils proved over the weekend just how efficiently they can raise the ante.

Juventus, in stark contrast, have been in imperious form both domestically and in Europe; with many even positioning them as favorites to win the Champions League.
