The long legal dispute between Mark Hunt and the UFC, Dana White and Brock Lesnar, has finally concluded as U.S. District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey dismissed Hunt’s lawsuit.
The judge determined that Hunt did not provide evidence to support his claims of fraud, battery, aiding and abetting battery, and civil conspiracy in relation to his fight against Lesnar at UFC 200.
Hunt had accused the promotion and White of allowing Lesnar to compete despite knowing about his use of performance-enhancing drugs.
The lawsuit was initially filed in 2017 and was dismissed later in 2019.
However, a court appeal in 2021 brought it back.
Nevertheless, Judge Dorsey found that Hunt’s evidence was insufficient to prove his allegations.
After the bout where Lesnar defeated Hunt via decision but later tested positive for banned substances, Hunt expressed criticism regarding Lesnar receiving the majority of his purse and being exempted from the usual four-month drug testing period required for returning fighters.
As a result, the fight’s outcome was changed to no contest. Following this battle, Hunt’s career in the UFC took a downturn as he experienced a 1–4 record before parting ways with the promotion in 2018.
After retiring from MMA, he decided to try his luck in the boxing ring and managed to secure a win in 2022.
On the other hand, Brock Lesnar has been mainly dedicated to his wrestling career in WWE ever since his fight against Hunt.
Now that Hunt’s lawsuit has been dismissed, this long legal battle finally comes to an end, putting the UFC 200 match and its consequences behind us for good.
