Massachusetts grants Genius Sports operational licence

The sports data and technology company Genius Sports has been licensed as a temporary sports wagering vendor by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

The license issued will last for a period of twelve months, which will take effect in March 2023, when the state will launch online sports betting.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Genius Sports, Mark Locke, the company is grateful to be among the few vendors authorized to make its sports betting solutions available to sportsbooks in the state. He said the state sports betting operators will not only benefit from its sports data powered offerings but also be able to utilize its personalized NFL wagering products.

“We are honoured that the Massachusetts Gaming Commission has awarded Genius Sports its temporary sports wagering vendor authorisation, to provide licensed sportsbooks with access to our exclusive NFL wagering products and media solutions,” Locke said.

“As an ever-expanding number of US states legalise sports betting, Genius Sports welcomes the opportunity to work with states like Massachusetts on providing sports fans with official sports data-powered solutions to power their sportsbooks.”

Entering the new Massachusetts market is part of the expansion plan that the company hopes to achieve. Already, Genius Sports is dominating several other regions; it holds about 41 operational licenses in North America, making the Massachusetts license one among many.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission also recently granted sports technology company Sportradar a temporary sports wagering vendor license. Like Genius Sports, the company has also dominated the North American region, gaining about 45 licenses in this region.
