Michigan Wolverines vs. Michigan State line odds & value betting tips
Michigan vs. Michigan State – 12:00 PM EST, Saturday, October 20, at Spartan Stadium East Lansing, MI
Betting Line: Michigan -7
Over/Under: 41.5 points at 888 Sportsbook
The 24th-ranked Michigan State Spartans beat a top 10 team in Penn State in their last game and will have their eye set on doing it again this week against in-state rival Michigan.
This game is big for NCAA Football Big 10 ramifications and it offers many betting options for punters to jump on.
Michigan has won six in a row since dropping its first game of the season to an undefeated Notre Dame team. They are coming off a HUGE win over a ranked Wisconsin team and the Wolverines are led by a defense that ranks second in the nation.
Michigan State is back in the top 25 after their last game where they knocked off 8th ranked Penn State and they won that game on the road. The Spartans already have a conference loss, but they still have an outside chance for a BCS berth, but have to run the table and that will not be easy facing Michigan in this game and Ohio State in November.
This season Michigan is 6-1 SU with an ATS record of 4-3 and an O/U record of 4-3 and Michigan State is 4-2 with an ATS record of 2-4 and an O/U record of 4-2.
Michigan State has covered the spread in 10 of the last 11 games facing Michigan and they have covered in their last five home games against them.
Last season at Michigan the Spartans upset the Wolverines beating them 14-7.
Michigan is coming off a big-time 38-13 win over a ranked Wisconsin team in their last game where they outscored the Badgers 25-8 in the second half. They had 444 yards in the game and their great defense held Wisconsin to only 283 total yards and they forced the game’s only two turnovers. Quarterback Shea Patterson only passed for 124 yards, but the run game racked up 320 yards.
Michigan running back Karan Higdon rushed for 105 yards against Wisconsin and he has gone over 100 rushing yards in his last five games. The run-game is the strength of the Wolverines and will they keep pounding the rock? Good question, as MSU has the nation’s top-ranked run defense, but they only rank 117th in the nation defending the pass.
The Spartans took down Penn State in a big upset in their last game winning 21-17. They had 295 passing yards and held PSU to only 3/14 on third down conversions. Brian Lewerke passed for 259 yards in the game with Felton Davis III being his top target with 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns. MSU is a pass first team that does not have a huge run game, but that does not match up for well in this game, as Michigan has the nation’s top-ranked pass defense.

Michigan vs. Michigan State betting prediction
Michigan State has covered in 10 of the last 11 games facing Michigan and are coming off a big road win over Penn State.
Despite that form, Michigan’s defense is too strong and they will have their way with the Spartans.
The Wolverines will be solid on both sides of the ball and they will easily cover this big rivalry game and cover the spread as well.
