Michigan has covered the spread in four of their last five road games against Ohio State.

Michigan is coming off a 31-20 home win over Indiana in their last game where they outgained the Hoosiers 507 yards to 385 yards, but gave up 190 rushing yards.

In the win over Indiana Shea Patterson passed for 250 yards with a touchdown and an interception and Zach Gentry led the way with 83 receiving yards. Karan Higdon rushed for 101 yards and his play will be key in this game. He has rushed for over 100 yards in nine of his last 10 games and he will face an Ohio State run defense that ranks 44th in the nation, but did give up 339 rushing yards in their last game.

Last season against Ohio State in a 26-19 home loss Higdon only rushed for 55 yards and he has to do better than that in this game not only to move the chains, but keep OSU and their high scoring offense off the field.

Ohio State narrowly avoided another upset in their last game beating Maryland 52-51 in overtime on the road. The Buckeyes ranked up 688 yards and were balanced, but they also gave up 535 yards, were lit up in the ground game, and committed three turnovers. If those last two things happen in this game OSU will not get the win.

Dwayne Haskins may still be in the Heisman race and in the win over Maryland he passed for 405 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions and Johnnie Dixon and Terry McLaurin each had over 100 receiving yards. The Buckeyes can run the ball as well, as J.K. Dobbins rushed for 205 yards in the last game and he has rushed for at least 163 yards in two of his last three games.

Michigan’s defense is the top-ranked unit in the nation and they rank first in the nation in defending the pass and 14th defending the run.
