Monday Night NFL betting preview & top picks: September 25, 2023

Week 3 of the NFL season will close with yet another Monday Night Football doubleheader, and hopefully, this week is a little more interesting than last week. Regardless of how it plays out, we have picks for both matchups.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Philadelphia Eagles preview

After a weird week one where Jalen Hurts didn’t rush the ball very much, he was back scrambling in week two. He tallied two rushing touchdowns in that contest and is well on his way to matching the 13 rushing touchdowns he compiled last year. In this game, Hurts should once again rely on his legs around the goal line, and at basically even money, it’s worth betting on.

The Eagles, known for having an elite defense, have not played very well through two weeks. While they are stopping everyone on the ground, they can be beaten through the air, and we expect the Bucs to throw a lot. And when they throw, Mike Evans will get a lot of targets. The future Hall of Famer has been dominant this season and has a touchdown in each game. We expect that streak to continue on Monday Night Football.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Los Angeles Rams preview

The Bengals, who came into this season with Super Bowl aspirations, have faltered out of the gates and are sitting at 0-2. And there’s no sugarcoating it; their supposed elite offense has looked pedestrian, and they have shown no signs of life. That being said, this is a good chance for them to right the ship. They started off 0-2 last year and were able to win 12 of their next 14 games. While that may be lofty, we expect them to play better and cover in this Monday night feature.

A key reason for the Bengals’ struggles has been their inability to feed Ja’Marr Chase. He is one of the best offensive weapons across the league, and he simply hasn’t made enough plays. That should change here. We project the Bengals to make a concerted effort to feed Chase the ball early and often, and we don’t think the third-year wide receiver has lost a step. He has scored over nine touchdowns in each of his seasons thus far, and he should get his first TD of the season on Monday Night Football.
