The NBA Finals could be coming to a close in this next game. After a back-and-forth series, it looks like the Golden State Warriors may finally have pulled away as they head to Boston with a 3-2 lead. They have a lot of experience in the Finals and will not be overcome with emotion. If the Warriors win, it will be the finishing touches on a phenomenal season. If the Boston Celtics win, we will turn our eyes to Sunday for Game 7. However, before that potential blockbuster, here are some betting picks for a massive Game 6.
Points spread: Golden State Warriors +4
This should be a very intense game. The Warriors were able to win Game 5 without Steph Curry playing well, which had looked like an impossibility before that result. Expect Steph to bounce back and for this to be a better game for the Warriors. Even though they won last game, Golden State were not very impressive. Expect GSW, winners of three of the last eight NBA Finals, to be more prepared for this crucial game than the Celtics. They will be ready for whatever Boston throw at them and it should be a very close game that could go either way. For that reason, we are siding with the underdog.
Boston have shown their youth throughout these playoffs. They have been able to overcome their inexperience in the past rounds, but this series has been different. The Celtics definitely still have a chance to come back and win the last two games, but it really feels like Golden State have their number. Boston haven’t been able to close games well throughout this playoff run and the Warriors have taken full advantage of that. If Boston are able to find a reliable third scorer after Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, then they could force Game 7. But if they can’t, this could be a sad end to their impressive season.
Golden State Warriors +4
To score 35+ points: Stephen Curry
Curry had a bad game last time out and he will definitely bounce back. He was carrying the Warriors prior to Game 5 and simply couldn’t find his shot in that one. It was his first-ever playoff game where he didn’t hit a three-point shot, and that should be a motivating factor in his upcoming performance. He is going to be great in Game 6 and it’s unlikely he has two bad shooting performances in a row. The Celtics have proven they aren’t able to completely stop Curry, and although he played poorly last game, he still made a huge impact in terms of playmaking for his teammates. Expect Curry to show out on Thursday and have a major impact in a pivotal knockout matchup.
Stephen Curry 35+ points
Over 7.5 rebounds: Andrew Wiggins
After Game 3, something changed for Andrew Wiggins. He clearly has become more aggressive, and outside of Curry he has been the best player for Golden State. In the past two games, Wiggins has had 16 and 13 rebounds and his aggression is paying off. The betting sites are starting to acknowledge Wiggins’ newfound rebounding prowess, but this line is still too low. He is too athletic for the Celtics to completely negate, so Wiggins should once again be a major factor on the boards. Unless something crazy changes before next game, Wiggins will play motivated and should cover this number with ease.
Andrew Wiggins 7.5+ rebounds
Over 2.5 three-pointers: Jaylen Brown
Jaylen Brown has been a very consistent player for the Celtics throughout the course of this season, yet he has struggled up to this point in the NBA Finals. He is still averaging 21.4 points per game but is only shooting 30.6% from three. That is unsustainably low for a guy with the talent of Brown, and given the fact he is shooting 7.2 threes a game in this series, this is a good bet. He went 0-5 last game and looked timid when had the ball. That shouldn’t happen again, and if the Celtics want to win, Jaylen will have to be engaged and motivated. We project that to occur in Game 6.
Jaylen Brown 2.5+ three-pointers
