NBA Finals Game Five Best Picks and Top Odds: Monday, June 13

NBA odds and tips

The 2022 NBA Finals will head back to San Francisco in a 2-2 deadlock. Both teams have split the games in each destination and Game Four was the best game yet. It was a classic Steph Curry shooting performance where Curry willed the Warriors to victory in a close game in Boston. Curry has been on fire throughout the NBA Playoffs and the Celtics have had a tough time stopping him. Unfortunately for the Warriors, they haven’t had a lot scoring from players not named Steph Curry and it all is falling on his shoulders right now. Game Five is going to be a massive game where one team will have a decided edge going into Game Six. Going up 3-2 could be the difference, and we have some picks for a pivotal Game Five. All odds courtesy of Bovada.

Boston Celtics at Golden State Warriors

This series has been a back and forth affair and now it’s Boston’s turn to win. The Celtics, all playoffs long, have yet to lose two straight games and always bounce back. However, they have an issue with intensity coming off a win as we just saw in Game Four. Regardless, history tells us Boston will play much better in this game and even though they are away, they have been fairly strong away from their home court throughout these NBA Playoffs. Boston will need to figure out how to stop Curry but even if they slow him down a little bit, Golden State haven’t proven they have other options. The lack of scoring options from the Warriors depth pieces will be the difference in this game as the Celtics should emerge with yet another stranglehold on this NBA Finals series.

Golden State will not make it easy and stopping Curry is way harder than you may think. Steph has become one of the best players in NBA history and while you can limit his shooting attempts, it’s hard to erase his playmaking ability. Curry, throughout this series, has not forced anything and is constantly dismantling the Celtics defense by making the right plays. In order for the Warriors to win this series, however, they will need big performances from both Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole and they just haven’t proven they are capable to this point. The Celtics have the best defense in the league and outside of Curry, they have shown that ability. This should be a close game but at the end of it, Boston will prevail. Take the Celtics and the points in what could be a series defining matchup.

Stephen Curry Over 5.5 Assists

+122

Curry has been the best player in this series and it’s not been close. He has single handedly kept the Warriors alive and has averaged 34.3 points per game. He has taken double digit three pointers in every game this series and is hitting them at a high clip. At some point, the Celtics are going to do something different and force Curry to drive to the hoop rather than take threes. When that happens, it will open up passing lanes and it will be time for Curry to showcase his elite playmaking ability. He has yet to have more than five assists in any game of this NBA Finals but potential Celtics adjustments make this a good bet. Take Curry’s over on assists and watch him dominate in a different way.

Andrew Wiggins 20 Plus Points

Aside from Curry, Wiggins has probably been the best player for the Warriors. He is averaging 16.5 points per game and while that’s not absurd, his hustle has made him an invaluable piece of the Warriors rebounding and defensive gameplan. This, in turn, has earned him more playing time and that will give him more shooting opportunities. He is very capable of hitting open shots and given the defensive attention Curry draws, he will have plenty of open shots. Expect Wiggins to have a big game and provide the Warriors with a much needed secondary scoring option.

Al Horford Over 9.5 Points

Throughout this series, it has felt like the Celtics play well when Horford plays well. He is probably their fourth best player but has scored double digit points in their two wins and has struggled in their two losses. Based off of us thinking the Celtics will win this game, it would make sense that Horford would hit his over. Horford is playing a lot of minutes and is a key contributor on both sides of the court. He is taking and making more threes than he did in the regular season and that should continue in this game. Take Horford to score at least 10 and once again play well in a Celtics win.

Derrick White Over 17.5 Combined Points, Rebounds and Assists

Derrick White has become one of the most important Celtics player in this series. With Marcus Smart fighting through injuries, White is playing a lot of minutes and is working on guarding Steph Curry. Of course, he’s not doing great defensively but his offensive prowess has been very impressive. Through the four games, he would have covered this number three times and it appears the books haven’t caught up to the Celtics new strategy. He is averaging 30.5 minutes a game and in the Celtics first series against the Brooklyn Nets, he only played 20.5 minutes per game. White is clearly earning the trust of his head coach, Ime Udoka and has yet to give Udoka any reason to bench him. As long as this trend continues, White should be on the floor making plays and will be involved enough to cover this number.
