Golden State Warriors vs. New Orleans Pelicans

Friday April 4, 8:00 PM EST at Smoothie King Center New Orleans, LA

He’s back! Stephen Curry came back from injury to play in his first playoff game going for 28 points coming off the bench in the 121-116 win over the Pelicans in Game 2. Golden State has won 14 straight playoff games at home and the series now shifts to New Orleans where the Warriors won both of their games facing the Pelicans in the regular season.

Curry, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green combined for 77 points in the Game 2 win and they combined to hit nine of their 21 3-pointers. Curry’s scoring was needed, as Klay Thomson, who went for 27 points in Game 1, only had 10 points on 4/20 shooting missing nine of his 11 3-pointers.

The Pelicans were pesky in the Game 2 loss and Anthony Davis, Rajon Rondo, and Jrue Holliday combined for 71 points. Every starter for New Orleans scored at last 14 points in the loss.

Have to go with the Warriors in Game 3 even in the Big Easy, as Curry is back and they won Game 2 even with Thomson struggling big time.

Houston Rockets vs. Utah Jazz

Friday May 4, 8:00 PM EST at Vivint Smart Home Arena Salt Lake City, UT

In the Game 2 win in Houston the Jazz almost blew a big lead, but held on with a strong 4th quarter and Joe Ingles came up big scoring a career high 27 points. While the Jazz had more than twice as many turnovers in the game (17-8) they shot the 3-pointer better and overall shot 51.8% from the floor holding Houston to 40% shooting.

The Jazz beat the Rockets with a team effort, as four starters went for double figures and two bench players scored at least 15 points. They needed those guys to step up since Donovan Mitchell only had 17 points on 6/21 shooting.

The Rockets were the opposite of the Jazz in Game 2 with the role players struggling and head coach Mike D’Antoni stated that the team got “lulled to sleep.”

James Harden, Chris Paul, and Clint Capella combined for 76 points, but Harden struggled with the deep shot only going 2/10 from 3-pt land. Eric Gordon was the only other Houston player to go for double figures coming off the bench to score 15 points, but he was only 5/16 from the floor.

Houston won both regular season road games facing the Jazz this season.

The Rockets will not get lulled to sleep in this game and they will win Game 3 and take back home court advantage.
