Utah Jazz vs Houston Rockets – 10am AEST, Toyota Center, Rockets lead 3-1
Los Angeles Clippers vs Golden State Warriors – 12:30pm, Oracle Arena, Oakland, Warriors lead 3-1
The NBA Playoffs started off with plenty of upsets, but as the first round series have continued on, the form throughout the season has eventually won out.
The Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics swept their opponents, while the Raptors and 76ers conceded just a single win before advancing.
Two massive game five bouts will be fought this Wednesday between the Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets, and the Los Angeles Clippers and the Golden State Warriors.
Golden State and Houston sit comfortably as the two favourites to take out these series and meet to decide who escapes the west.
Depending on the result of these matches, it could be the last time we see the Jazz and Clippers for season 2018-19.
Here are our best tips for the upcoming pair of games.
Utah Jazz vs Houston Rockets Game-Five Tips
Both Teams to Score Over 100 @ -131.58:
Only once in the past four matches has the combined score exceeded 100 for both sides, but two other matches came very close. Now that the Jazz have become more competitive after winning game four, they should continue to find scoring easier. The Rockets haven’t scored under 100 yet and with James Harden on the court, most likely won’t.
Clint Capela Over 11.5 Rebounds:
With an average of 12.7 rebounds per match, Capela looms as the best choice for the Rockets in the paint. Rudy Gobert has been a monster on the defensive end, but Capela is just as powerful when rebounding, which is why he will pull down over 12 rebounds in Game five.
Donovan Mitchell Over 28.5 Points:
Someone has to stand up when facing elimination, and who better than the second-year guard Donovan Mitchell? If you had never watched the Jazz before, you would think Mitchell is an All-Star that has been in the league for many years. Donovan can shoot the ball well and finishes well in the paint, similarly to Harden.
Houston Rockets to Win @ -357.14:
With their firepower in the paint and the reigning MVP on their side, the Houston Rockets look like they can beat the Jazz with ease and should complete an impressive series.
Los Angeles Clippers vs Golden State Warriors Game-Five Tips
Steph Curry Over 4.5 Made Threes:
The sharp-shooter was off in his last game, shooting 1/9 in a shocking display from behind the arc, but no player has the confidence as the two-time MVP. Curry will get open looks due to Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant simply being on the court, which forces the defence to spread. If Curry puts up nine shots again, five will drop this time around.
Danilo Gallinari Under 20.5 Points:
The big forward for the Clippers knows how to shoot the ball and when to drive to the basket, but what he didn’t see coming was the length and tenacity of Kevin Durant, who is one of the most underrated defensive players in the league. Gallinari missed 15 shots in game-four and it was mostly to do with the defence getting in his head. He will not have a huge impact in game five as Durant and Draymond Green will quell his influence yet again.
Kevin Durant Over 23.5 Points:
The ease at which Durant puts the ball in the basket is mind-blowing. Even if he is targeted by defenders, he simply shoots over them, or beats them for speed to the rim. Durant is one of the most gifted scorers to grace the court in the modern era and stands up when it matters most.
Golden State Warriors to Win @ -1666.67:
They have the best starting five, even without Demarcus Cousins, which is why they will knock out the over-achieving LA Clippers in game-five.
