NCAAF betting update: Race for MAC title wide open
Toledo have the ground game, but can the defense hold up? Let’s check out the latest NCAAF betting lines and outright odds for the 2019 Mid-American Conference football title.
Toledo MAC odds
+280 at Bovada
Toledo stumbled to a 7-6 record last season, but if their defense improves and they get consistent QB play they may turn things around. The strength of the team is the run game led by the solid duo of Bryant Koback and Shakif Seymour, while QB Mitchell Guadagni may head into the season as the starter after an injury filled campaign in 2018. The WR corps loses its top three receivers from last season, and that and the run defense are the main concern for the Rockets. Their biggest test in the West Division may be Northern Illinois, who the Rockets host.

Ohio MAC odds
+300 at Bovada
While Ohio may have been the best team in the East division for the last couple of seasons, they have failed to win it. The WR corps loses some key players and the run game is an issue with the two featured backs failing to get over 20 carries last season. The secondary for Ohio may be one of the best in the conference and in their last six games of 2018 the Bobcats defense only gave up an average of 17.2 ppg. Ohio host both Northern Illinois and Western Michigan and do not face Toledo.

Northern Illinois MAC odds
+500 at Bovada
Northern Illinois won the MAC with an 8-6 record last season despite a pretty bad offense. Now they have a new offensive coordinator in Eric Eidsness, who built a dynamic attacking force at South Dakota State. QB Mark Childress and RB Tre Harbison (1,000 rushing yards last season) both return, but the WR corps has many new faces. Star LB Sutton Smith is gone, but most of the starters on defense return. The Huskies have a tough schedule, including Toledo and Ohio on the road.
Western Michigan MAC odds
+500 at Bovada
Western Michigan won seven games last season and has many players returning, including QB Jon Wassink, RB LeVante Bellamy, and the WR duo of Jayden Reed and D’Wayne Eskridge. The defense was solid against the run last season but terrible against the pass and their secondary has to shore up if they are to win the MAC title. The Broncos have a killer schedule, facing Ohio and Toledo on the road and closing the season with an away game at Northern Illinois.

Eastern Michigan MAC odds
+800 at Bovada
Eastern Michigan won seven games last season and have high hopes this year behind dynamic QB Mike Glass III. The WR corps is a good one, but the Eagles were one of the worst running teams in the nation last season. The defense was rock-solid last season and this term Maxx Crosby and Jeremiah Harris lead the line up in front of a very capable secondary. The Eagles have a couple of tough fixtures late in the season, when they face both Toledo and Northern Illinois on the road.

Miami Ohio MAC odds
+1200 at Bovada
Miami Ohio won six games last season and while they return some key players, the QB position is up in the air. Michigan transfer Alex Malzone may have the edge, but AJ Mayer and Jackson Williamson are both in the mix. While the RedHawks will have a good ground game, the WR corps is very inexperienced. Miami’s defense may be one of the best in the MAC again, but the offense is the unit that has major question marks.
