Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs betting picks

Could the Tennessee Titans’ run to the AFC Championship Game be any more impressive? They are the sixth seed out of six and have won both of their playoff games on the road. They first took out Tom Brady and the defending champion New England Patriots and then beat likely MVP Lamar Jackson and the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens, snapping their 12-game winning streak.

The Titans beat the Ravens 28-12 in the divisional round even though they were outgained 530 yards to 300. They forced Jackson into his worst game on the season with two interceptions and a fumble while stuffing all four of Baltimore’s fourth-down attempts.

The main reason the Titans are in the conference title game is the play of running back Derrick Henry. In the win over the Ravens he rushed for 195 yards at 6.5 yards per carry and even passed for a touchdown. In the previous week against the Patriots he rushed for 184 yards.

Henry has done it all on offense in the two playoff games and Ryan Tannehill, who had a great season, has only passed the ball 29 times for 160 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.

These teams met in Kansas City this season in a barnburner where the Titans beat the Chiefs 35-32. Henry rushed for 188 yards in that game, averaging 8.8 yards per carry with two touchdowns.

Kansas City only rank 26th in the league in run defense, but they only gave up 94 rushing yards in their win over the Houston Texans. The Chiefs were down 24-0 in that game, but their offensive stars stood up as they outscored the Texans 51-7 for the remainder.

Patrick Mahomes passed for 351 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions in the win over Houston and star tight end Travis Kelse led the way with 134 receiving yards and three scores. Mahomes was also the lead rusher with 57 yards and Damien Williams rushed for 47 yards.

Tennessee gave up a ton of yards in their win over the Ravens but got stops when they needed to and forced three turnovers. On the season they rank 24th in the league in pass defense and 12th in run defense.

The magical run ends in this game for Tennessee, as Henry can only do so much and the Titans will have no answer for Mahomes. The Chiefs will win at home, cover the spread, and advance to the Super Bowl.

Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers betting picks

The Green Bay Packers head back to the left coast after being crushed 37-8 by the San Francisco 49ers near the end of the season. That was the last loss Green Bay suffered, as they have won six in a row.

The 49ers played great defense in beating the Minnesota Vikings 27-10 in their first playoff game last week. They only allowed 147 total yards and stuffed the run, only giving up 21 rushing yards.

Aaron Rodgers came up big in Green Bay’s 28-23 win over the Seattle Seahawks last week, passing for 243 yards with two touchdowns and no picks. He converted two third downs of at least eight yards on the last drive, allowing the Packers to run out the clock. While Davante Adams had a big game with 160 receiving yards, Aaron Jones rushed for 62 yards at only three yards per carry.

Rodgers only passed for 104 yards and was sacked five times in the blowout loss to San Francisco in late November. He will be facing a 49ers pass defense that ranks first in the league. San Fran’s run defense only ranks 17th, but they stuffed the run in the win over the Vikings.

The Packers’ pass rush came up big in the win over Seattle, pressuring Russell Wilson all game and making some key sacks. The Green Bay defense ranks 14th in the league against the pass and 23rd against the run.

Jimmy Garoppolo only passed for 131 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the win over Minnesota, but the 49ers rushed for 186 yards. Tevin Coleman rushed for 105 yards and Raheem Mostert rushed for 58 yards, each averaging 4.8 yards per carry.

The 49ers are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games facing the Packers, but that trend will not continue. Even Green Bay do not win – and they might – they will cover the spread in a tight NFC title tussle.
