NFL: Stefon Diggs re-signs for Super Bowl favorites Buffalo

Diggs NFL betting news

Star wide receiver Stefon Diggs has agreed to a contract extension with the Buffalo Bills. The four-year deal is worth $104 million and will tie Diggs to star quarterback Josh Allen for the foreseeable future.

Diggs never publicly said he wanted to leave the Bills but after a bevy of wide receiver trades, there were rumors he may be on the way out. Now, it appears like he will retire in Buffalo.

Diggs is one of the best receivers in the NFL and although he is 28, there haven’t been any signs of him slowing down. Last year, Diggs had 103 receptions for 1,225 yards and 10 touchdowns. Ever since he came to Buffalo, both he and Allen have leveled up in terms of their play.

The Bills now return largely the same offense and will only add to it through the NFL draft. It is expected they will dominate just as they have been in recent seasons. They added Von Miller to an average defense and will hope that he makes the difference. If that defense can improve just a little, watch out.

Despite a lot of regular season success, the Bills haven’t been able to make it to a Super Bowl. That’s not a slight on them; they still have a young core, but it is a bit of a disappointment. Given the excitement surrounding this team, one would expect them to have more postseason success.

Regardless, this is a great deal for both Diggs and the Bills. He is a definitive impact player and raises the profile of the entire team. Diggs, a former fifth round pick, has beaten the odds to become the player he is. Despite showing flashes with his former team, the Minnesota Vikings, he was traded from them and has been an elite player since.

With Diggs and Allen, the sky’s the limit for Buffalo, and sportsbooks agree. The Bills are Super Bowl betting favorites with +700 odds to win it. While they will definitely be in the mix and should put together a good playoff run, these odds are too low. Wait for the Bills to lose a game or two, and their odds will be higher. They play in a loaded conference and it won’t be easy, but the Bills are one of the best teams, and it wouldn’t be wise to doubt them too much.
