NFL Sunday betting preview & top picks – Week 1, 2023

NFL Sunday betting preview

The NFL is back, and the excitement is reaching a boiling point as we approach our first Sunday slate for the season. Here are BettingPlanet’s top NFL Week 1 picks for September 10.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts

This matchup is an intriguing battle between two AFC South divisional rivals, and we are going to side with the home underdogs. While the Colts are coming off a disappointing season, they have a new quarterback at the helm in Anthony Richardson who will provide an instant spark to this offense. The Jaguars struggled defensively last year and were inconsistent offensively. While the Jags are expected to have a better season, the value on the Colts in Week 1 is too good to pass up.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns

We have another divisional battle here as the Cleveland Browns host the Cincinnati Bengals. The over/under for this game is set at 47.5, so the top NFL betting sites expect a lot of scoring. And if that happens, Amari Cooper, the number one receiver for the Browns, should have a big day. Cooper has been one of the most consistent receivers over the past half decade and finished last season with nine touchdowns, so he is a great play to open his season tally in what should be a high-scoring affair.

Tennessee Titans @ New Orleans Saints

Neither of these teams lived up to their expectations, and both spent the offseason making a ton of changes. That being said, the Saints defense has not changed too much, and that should be the difference here. The Saints have been an above-average defense during head coach Dennis Allen’s tenure, and their consistency should prevail against a Titans offense that will need a few weeks to find its footing. Take the Saints at home to win and cover in a game that should be relatively low-scoring.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ San Francisco 49ers

This should be a great game between two teams with playoff aspirations, and if it is as close as expected, that should suit San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk as he backs up from a breakout season. He cleared this total 12 times last year, and in three of the five times he didn’t, San Francisco won by over a touchdown. So, if this game is close, Aiyuk should stay involved and easily cover his total as he tries to ascend into the elite tier of NFL pass catchers.

Baltimore Ravens @ Houston Texans

The Ravens are expected to win this game with ease, but the over/under is at 45 points, so most football betting sites are projecting them to pile on the points. Enter Mark Andrews, one of the best tight ends in the league. While the Ravens made a bunch of changes to their wide receiver room this offseason, the number one target is expected to be Andrews, and he should dominate in this contest. The 28-year-old battled injuries last season but showed elite upside the year before when he grabbed nine touchdowns. Expect him to resume his scoring ways and get off to a great start against a very beatable Texans defense.

Mark Andrews anytime touchdown
