NFL Super Wild Card weekend: Buccaneers v Eagles preview & tips

NFL football tips

Super Wild Card weekend in the NFL is coming up and there is a full slate of games that look extremely appetizing. Sports betting gets a little more fun this time of year, so let’s take a look at my favorite game of the week.

The Philadelphia Eagles fly south to take on defending Super Bowl champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. This matchup features the league’s best rushing attack going head to head with perhaps the league’s best rushing defense.

The Eagles ended the year with 2,751 rushing yards, a franchise record. After week 7, the Eagles were sitting at 2-5 and were averaging less than 10 rushing attempts per game. That number skyrocketed hitting upwards of 30 rushes in some games and so did the Eagles. Philadelphia is a run-first team but is in for a rude awakening against Vita Vea and the Bucs stout run defense.

The two teams faced off in week 6 where the Buccaneers won 28-22 in Philadelphia. The game was lopsided until late when the Eagles scored as Tampa Bay took their foot off the gas. These are two completely different teams than they were in October. Philly found its identity and the Bucs have been without three of their top offensive weapons on offense in Chris Godwin, Leonard Fournette, and Antonio Brown.

Stars come out in the playoffs both on the field and against the books. Here’s to another weekend of winning money!

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Philadelphia Eagles tips

BettingPlanet as examined the Buccaneers v Philadelphia odds and found some tips:

Rob Gronkowski to score a touch down

A matchup that I would keep my eye on is Rob Gronkowski vs the Eagles linebackers. The Eagles have been awful against tight ends this season, allowing 13 touchdowns in 18 games. It’s worth noting that Gronkowski missed the first meeting between these two teams with a rib injury. The Bucs targeted OJ Howard and Cameron Brate in Gronk’s absence, the two combined for nine receptions, 75 yards, and a touchdown.

Gronkowski has looked back to his old self after his year-long hiatus a couple of seasons ago. He has put himself back in the discussion for one of the league’s top tight ends this season. Gronk finished the regular season with 55 catches for 802 yards and six scores, all while missing a month with injury.

The Brady-Gronkowski connection should be in full effect against the sub-par linebackers that will be taking the field for the Eagles on Saturday. Gronkowski is currently sitting at +105 to score a TD anytime on Fanduel Sportsbook. Without Godwin and Brown, Tom Brady will look for someone he trusts especially in the red zone. The sheer fact that you are getting plus odds for Gronk to score while going against an Eagles defense that almost allows a touchdown per game is great.

Buccaneers v Eagles prediction

While I believe that the Bucs still hold the edge and will ultimately pull it out, I’m positive that this Buccaneers team should not be favored by 8.5 points against one of the league’s hottest teams. The Buccaneers nearly lost to the New York Jets two weeks ago and struggled mightily in the first half against the Carolina Panthers before turning it on late. Tampa Bay has struggled to find cohesion on offense coming down the stretch. I’d be comfortable taking Philadelphia down to -7.
