The 2021 National Football League (NFL) season comes to a close on Sunday, with the Cincinnati Bengals taking on the Los Angeles Chargers at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California. And while you might not have a rooting interest in the big game, and probably don’t, there’s still plenty of reasons to watch.

If you’re like me, you bet the Super Bowl just to give yourself a rooting interest in the big game. Otherwise I’d just watch the commercials and halftime show on YouTube afterward. Big games tend to start slow, and the 2022 big game will be no different. Nerves play a big role in the game, and the pregame introductions and national anthem performance makes the pregame festivities longer than that of any other game, regular season or playoffs.

The halftime show also makes halftime the longest of the season, allowing coaches to make adjustments and players to catch their breath, which is why I’m taking the over on points for the big game. The Bengals’ and Rams’ offenses will figure out how to attack the opposing defenses in the second half, making for a fun barrage of second-half points.

I like the Bengals, but the Rams are four-point betting favorites, and not because they’re playing in their home stadium. Many of their home games have felt like they were played at neutral sites given the attendance of opposing teams’ fans. I never bet against the spread on NFL games, so I’m taking the Rams on the moneyline.

I simply think the experience many of the Rams players got in the big game to finish the 2018 season will be the difference in this big game. Also, the advantage Los Angeles has on both the offensive and defensive lines is going to overwhelm Cincinnati eventually.

Cam Akers to Reach 17+ Receiving Yards and Cooper Kupp to Reach 109+ Receiving Yards +425

The Rams didn’t have the 2021 Offensive Player of the Year in the 2019 big game, so I fully expect Cooper Kupp to be exactly what he has been all season. I also expect Rams’ quarterback Matthew Stafford to play it safe early in the big game and throw the checkdowns to his running back, Cam Akers.

Cam Akers to Rush for 95+ Yards and Joe Mixon to Rush for 61+ Yard +383

The Rams will be able to run the ball, and they’ll be able to stop the run. Los Angeles had the top run stop rank in the league this season, and Cincinnati had the 25th best run stop rate. I mean, to win $100 betting on the Rams to rush for more yards than the Bengals in the big game, you have to bet $213. So Cam Akers reaching 100 yards rushing is a pretty safe bet. It might even be safer than betting on Joe Mixon to rush for more than 61 yards.
