It is finally time for Thanksgiving Football and the NFL has scheduled quite a fascinating slate. Unlike the normal one game on Thursday, NFL fans will be blessed with three games on this occasion. For many of these teams, these games will decide playoff seedings, so the stakes are high. Here are our best bets for this special Thanksgiving Day.
Josh Allen is the star quarterback for the Buffalo Bills and he is firmly in the MVP race. However, he hurt his elbow a few weeks ago, and since then he hasn’t been passing as much as he did at the start of the season. As a result, Allen is using his legs, and he should once again run the ball a lot in this spot. While Allen only had seven rushing yards last game, that was an aberration; he was over 80 rushing yards in the previous two games. Allen should clear this number with ease and run all over an awful Lions defense.
As we mentioned, the Lions have an awful defense. The Bills should be able to score with ease, but still, this over/under line is far too high. For one, Thursday games tend to lean under. Also, since Josh Allen’s injury, the Bills’ offense hasn’t been as potent as it once was. Lastly, the Bills still have a great defense, and while the Lions can score, they will struggle in this spot.
In this divisional battle between the 7-3 Dallas Cowboys and the 7-3 New York Giants, we are taking the favorite. Although the Cowboys are coming off a blowout win where they destroyed a solid Vikings team, we do not think this is a letdown spot. We simply believe their defense is legit and they should have a field day against a hobbled Giants team. The Giants will be without key players on their offense, and because this is a Thursday game, they are going to put together a skeleton roster. Back the Cowboys to feast on this undermanned Giants team on Thanksgiving Day.
Last week, the previously 8-1 Minnesota Vikings lost 40-3 to the Cowboys. The Vikings’ stock could not be lower and the public perception around them is very negative. That being said, they are still 8-2 and we believe everyone is overreacting. The Vikings have one of the most talented rosters in the league, and while they put up a dud last week, they should beat this Patriots team. The Pats cannot move the ball offensively, but they have a great defense. Even so, the Vikings should be able to move the ball on that defense and score enough to put this game away.
Rhamondre Stevenson has carved out an important role in the passing game for New England. Unlike his running-back counterpart Damien Harris, Stevenson is a very capable pass-catcher and he is being trusted more and more in that role. This prop is way too low and the betting sites haven’t yet caught on to Stevenson’s skillset. ‘Mondre has cleared this number in three of his past four games, going for more than 50 yards each time. He should be a big part of the Pats’ passing attack again this week, so this is our favorite prop of the day.
Justin Jefferson is one of the best receivers in NFL and he is coming off of a horrible game. However, he should bounce back in this spot. While the Pats have a good defense, Jefferson on his best day cannot be stopped and he should be hyper-targeted in this contest. Prior to last week’s bad game, Jefferson had back-to-back 100-yard games with at least one touchdown. He should play more to that level in this game, and although this a tough spot, Jefferson is too vital to the Vikings’ gameplan and should end up in the endzone at some stage.
