NFL Wild Card weekend picks & best prop bets — 15/1 Preview

NFL football tips

After two NFL playoff games will take place this Saturday, three more “Super” Wild Card games will take place on Sunday. While the lack of around the clock action will be a bummer, it is exciting that the playoffs are starting and it should be an awesome weekend of games. This year, the playoffs are wide open and it all starts this weekend. Here are our best picks for Sunday’s NFL slate.

Buffalo Bills vs Miami Dolphins

While this should still be a fun game, the injury to Dolphin’s QB Tua Tagovailoa really dampens the excitement for this matchup. Without Tua this year, the Dolphins have gone 1-3 and they simply just don’t move the ball as well. And the books are aware of that. As of right now, the Bills are 13.5 point favorites and while they should win, that’s too many points. Also, we just aren’t confident in the Miami offense and they don’t warrant a bet. So we are going to take the over. The Bills should be able to score 30+ points with ease against a terrible Dolphins defense and from there, the Dolphins would only need to muster around 10 points. Although the Bills have a solid defense, they are not the lockdown defense they were earlier in the season and injuries have affected their performance. For this game, neither side jumps out to us so we are going to take the over and count on a reliable Bills offense to score a lot in this battle.

Stefon Diggs Anytime Touchdown Scorer

Because we think a lot of points will be scored, let’s take the best Bills skill position player to score. Stefon Diggs is in the midst of another phenomenal season where he had 11 touchdowns in the regular season. He is clearly Josh Allen’s favorite target and considering the lackluster Dolphins’ defense, Diggs should go off. Xavien Howard, a Miami cornerback will be tasked with guarding Diggs, and while Howard is talented, he takes plenty of risks and is prone to giving up big plays. We expect Diggs to burn him a few times in this game and continue his solid season by scoring a playoff touchdown.

Minnesota Vikings vs New York Giants

This is a battle between two overachieving teams and neither squad is expected to go far in this year’s NFL playoffs. While Minnesota have a 13-4 record, they are 9-0 in one score games and their success is considered a little fluky. Whether that’s true or not shouldn’t matter in this spot. The Giants simply do not have the offensive talent to take advantage of this terrible Vikings defense and Minnesota’s offense should do enough to get them the win. The Giants had a very surprising season but their talent disparity should show in this spot. Take Minnesota to cover at home and get a big playoff win in rookie head coach Kevin O’Connell’s first season with the team.

Justin Jefferson Over 95.5 Receiving Yards

Justin Jefferson is an MVP candidate and one of the best receivers in the league. He just finished this season with 1,809 receiving yards — well over 100 yards per game. In this game, it’s wheels up for Jefferson. The Giants have struggled against the pass all season long and they simply do not have the personnel to stop the third-year wide receiver. Also, we believe the Giants will be able to score and keep the Vikings passing on offense to build their lead. Take Jefferson to clear his receiving yards prop with ease and show why he is one of the top five players across the entire league.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Baltimore Ravens

Unfortunately, just like the first game we covered, this game will not be as good as it could have been. That is due to Ravens’ QB, Lamar Jackson, who is expected to miss this game with his knee injury. While that hurts the Ravens a lot, we are still picking them. Baltimore have one of the best defenses in the league and although the Bengals just shredded the Ravens in Week 18 with a 27-16 win, the Ravens didn’t play all their starters for the majority of that game. They should have some help in this game coming and while we don’t think they’ll win, we do expect them to play their divisional rivals close and play within the number in this Sunday Night feature.

J.K. Dobbins Anytime Touchdown Scorer

J.K. Dobbins is a talented running back for the Ravens who has battled injuries for the majority of this season. But now he is back and he should be the focal point of the Ravens’ offense. While he only scored three times this year, a lot of the season was spent getting him up to full speed and he had a limited workload. In the playoffs, we don’t expect that. Dobbins should get 20 plus touches and if the Ravens want any chance of winning this game, he will have to go off. At +210, we like his odds to score and think he will be a key player for Baltimore in this spot.
