NFL Wild Card weekend tips & best prop bets — 14/1 Preview

The NFL regular season is over and the playoffs are completely set. This year’s playoffs are absolutely filled with talented quarterbacks and it appears that the Super Bowl spots could go to anyone. This weekend, the “Super” Wild Card weekend will commence and by the time Monday Night Football is over, there will be eight teams remaining. Here are our San Francisco 49ers v Seattle Seahawks tips and Jacksonville Jaguars v Los Angeles Chargers picks for their matches taking place on Saturday, January 14, 2023.

San Francisco 49ers -10 -110 vs Seattle Seahawks

This NFL divisional game projects to be a blowout and we are taking the favorites. While the Niners are on their third string QB, they keep winning games, and that QB, Brock Purdy is up to 6-0 as a starter. Most of that is due to their lockdown defense but Purdy has been impressive and San Francisco has enough playmakers on offense to mask Purdy’s deficiencies. While Seattle have had a strong offense all season, the Niners have the best defense in the league and at home, we think they can shut down the Hawks. San Francisco have already defeated the Seahawks twice this year and they should do it again this Saturday.

George Kittle Anytime Touchdown Scorer +145

Last time out against the Seahawks, Kittle had nearly 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The Seahawks have struggled to stop tight ends all year and Kittle should be in line for another huge game. Also, Kittle has been heating up in recent games and he is clearly Purdy’s favorite redzone weapon. Kittle has seven receiving touchdowns over his past four games and he is clearly a matchup problem. The tight end should have yet another huge game as he leads this San Francisco offense to a big win. Kittle is paying +145 to score a touchdown at anytime with betting sites.

Tyler Lockett Anytime Touchdown Scorer +330

While we believe the Niners will lock down the Seattle offense, the Hawks should still score. And Lockett tends to be that guy for this Geno Smith-led offense. Lockett had nine touchdowns in 15 games and scored in seven of his last eight full games. Although the Niners have an elite secondary, they will put a lot of focus on Lockett’s fellow receiver, D.K. Metcalf and that will give Lockett more room to operate. At +330, this is a bit of a longshot but considering Lockett’s resume, this is an awesome longshot bet.

Jacksonville Jaguars +1.5 -114 vs Los Angeles Chargers

For some reason, the Chargers are getting a lot of hype for this game. While they will enter the playoffs playing well, Los Angeles have a lot of injuries and they have been inconsistent all year long. While the Jags haven’t been the model of consistency, they have won five games in a row and are one of the hotter teams in the NFL in the playoffs. They clearly have improved from their 2-6 start and now, they have a home playoff game. It’s quite a turnaround considering where they were at the beginning of the season and while the Jags don’t seem destined to go on a deep run, they are being underrated in this game and they have no business being a home underdog.

Travis Etienne Anytime Touchdown Scorer -130

This is a phenomenal matchup for Etienne and the Jag’s rushing offense. The Chargers have given up the most yard per carry of any defense and gave up 17 rushing touchdowns this year. They simply have no answer for good rushing offenses and that plays right into Jacksonville’s hands. While Etienne has been up and down this season, he is capable of breaking a big run on any play and he has five touchdowns this year. Of course, that is not a ton but he is their main redzone running back and in this matchup, that is good enough to bet on. Take Etienne to score a rushing touchdown at -130 and watch him destroy an awful rushing defense.
