NHL Tuesday betting picks & top parlay plays – April 19, 2022

Best bookmakers for NHL betting

There are 10 National Hockey League (NHL) games scheduled for April 19, starting at 7pm EDT. Here’s where you should place your bets on Tuesday’s games.

Detroit Red Wings (+400) @ Tampa Bay Lightning (-550)

Tampa Bay is seeking its fourth-straight win at home, where the Lightning are 24-7-6 this season. Detroit has lost four of five, coming off a 6-1 loss at home to Florida. The Red Wings are 11-22-3 on the road this season.

The Lightning have let in a few too many goals over their last 10 games, allowing 2.9 per game while scoring 3.5 en route to a 5-3-2 record. The Red Wings have struggled scoring over the same stretch, netting 2.5 per game while allowing 3.3 en route to a 3-5-2 record. You might want to lean toward the over at -105 if it remains at 6.5 total goals.

The Lightning have won all three games against Detroit this season, but only one of those was by at least two goals. Betting on Tampa against the spread only pays -190 with Bovada, so you might want to consider some parlay options instead.

Philadelphia Flyers (+350) @ Toronto Maple Leafs (-475)

Toronto gets the Flyers, losers of five straight. The Maple Leafs have won four of five and eight of 10, scoring five goals per game and allowing 3.3. The Flyers have won just twice over their last 10, allowing 4.2 goals per game and scoring just 2.4.

Toronto is outstanding at home, going 28-8-2, and Philadelphia is terrible on the road (10-22-5). The Flyers’ power play is astoundingly bad (12.3 scoring percentage), so even with a man advantage, they don’t have much of an advantage. Toronto kills almost 83 percent of power plays.

The Leafs have won both games these two have played this season by three goals. Expect the Maple Leafs to win by at least two, so take Toronto on the moneyline and against the spread.

Minnesota Wild (-275) @ Montreal Canadiens (+220)

Minnesota did not play well but still came away with a victory at home over San Jose on Sunday. They could do the same in Montreal and skate away with a regulation victory by two or more goals.

The Canadiens are 10-23-4 in Montreal, and Minnesota is 20-14-5 away from home. Whomever starts in goal for the Wild will be better than Montreal’s options. Both Marc-Andre Fleury and Cam Talbot have logged .910 save percentages this season, and the Canadiens’ best option, Jake Allen, is out for the season.

The Wild need every game after losing in St. Louis in overtime, falling a point behind the Blues with a game in hand. Expect the Wild to get another win to keep pace, scoring at least four times. Take the Wild on the moneyline and to win by two or more at -115.

A moneyline trifecta featuring Tampa, Toronto, and Minnesota pays -105, but taking Toronto and Minnesota to win by two pays +190. Folding Tampa into a trifecta against the spread results in parlay odds of +343.

You might also consider betting on Kirill Kaprizov to score a goal. He failed to score against San Jose, and he and his line played admittedly terrible. Kirill “The Thrill” doesn’t follow up a bad game with a bad game, so take him to score a goal.

Also consider a prop bet on multiple points or a goal scored for Kevin Fiala, who has been hotter than fish grease. He had one goal and three assists on Sunday and has logged a point in each of his last five games. Fiala had multiple points in three of those five games.

Minnesota Wild -1.5
