There are five National Hockey League (NHL) games scheduled for April 6, starting at 7pm EDT. Here’s where you should place your bets on Wednesday’s games.
Seattle Kraken (+215) @ St. Louis Blues (-270)
Seattle is coming off an impressive 4-1 win over Dallas in Seattle but has lost three of five, all to either Vegas or Los Angeles. The Blues have won four of five games to put some distance between them and the Predators in the Central Division standings. St. Louis leads Nashville by six points but is just three points behind the red-hot Wild.
Seattle has to play in Chicago on Thursday, but starting its top goaltender won’t result in an advantage over St. Louis. Ville Husso has been magnificent for St. Louis all season and has been nearly perfect in two games against Seattle. In those two games he’s stopped 58 of 59 shots on goal for a .983 save percentage.
Expect St. Louis to ride Husso to a victory at home, where the Blues are 22-9-4. Take the Blues on the moneyline and to win by two or more.
St. Louis Blues -1.5
Detroit Red Wings (+220) @ Winnipeg Jets (-275)
Winnipeg gets to host the Red Wings, who will be coming off a game against Boston on Tuesday. Detroit has been bad on the road this season (9-21-3) and the road won’t be any kinder to the Red Wings playing on back-to-back days.
Goaltending is an issue for Detroit when Alex Nedeljkovic is not in net, and he’ll likely start against Boston on Tuesday. Regardless, the Jets have two netminders who have performed better than Nedeljkovic this season.
Winnipeg has the advantage everywhere on the ice, so expect the Jets to fly away from the Red Wings in this one. Take Winnipeg on the moneyline, and to win by two or more at -110 with Bovada. Parlaying Winnipeg and St. Louis on the moneyline pays -116, and doing so against the spread pays +300.
Winnipeg Jets -1.5
Calgary Flames (-255) @ Anaheim Ducks (+205)
Calgary has to play at San Jose on Thursday, but it shouldn’t keep the Flames from cooking the Ducks in Anaheim, who are 1-7-2 in their last 10 games. Anaheim has only scored 2.2 goals per game over that span, while the Flames are averaging 3.4 goals scored per game.
Ryan Getzlaf is listed as day-to-day for the Ducks, which could make things even tougher for Anaheim. Calgary will have the goaltending advantage, the defensive advantage, the offensive advantage, and the special teams advantage.
Take Calgary on the moneyline and consider taking the Flames to win by two or more at +100. Folding the Flames into a moneyline trifecta with St. Louis and Winnipeg pays +160, and doing the same against the spread pays +701.
Calgary Flames to win
Vancouver Canucks (+140) @ Vegas Golden Knights (-160)
Vegas is seeking its sixth straight win and sixth straight win at The Fortress. The Golden Knights have scored a whole goal more on average than Vancouver over a 10-game span. The Canucks have struggled to a 3-4-3 record over those 10 games, including a home loss to Vegas, 3-2, on Sunday.
Vancouver plays again on Thursday, but that shouldn’t affect their decision to start Thatcher Demko in net on Wednesday. The Canucks get the Coyotes on Thursday, so Vancouver will at least have a better goaltender than Vegas on Wednesday. Vegas is fighting for its playoff life, however, sitting just one point ahead of Dallas for the last playoff spot in the Western Conference.
Expect Vegas to keep rolling at home. Take the Knights to win on the moneyline and consider adding Vegas to a moneyline parlay featuring St. Louis, Winnipeg, and Calgary, which pays +322.
Vegas Golden Knights to win
