Columbus Blue Jackets (+115) @ Ottawa Senators (-135)

Columbus is coming off back-to-back home wins versus Minnesota and Vegas. Columbus plays on Thursday, so Joonas Korpisalo will likely start in goal for the Blue Jackets. That’s been the problem for Columbus this season. They’ve allowed 3.67 goals per game this season.

Luckily for the Blue Jackets, the Senators aren’t a prolific offense. They’ve only scored 2.64 goals per game. They also take a lot of penalties (623 penalty minutes this season). The special teams are basically identical on these two teams. They score on exactly 18.3 percent of power plays, and they kill 79+ percent of power plays.

The difference in this game will be goaltending, and Ottawa has the better goaltender. Anton Forsberg has a .916 save percentage. Expect him to lift the Senators to a home win, and don’t be surprised if they win by two.

Boston Bruins (+100) @ Minnesota Wild (-120)

The Bruins played Tuesday but have won four of five, and Minnesota has lost three of five. Minnesota has the better offense (3.67 goals scored per game), and Boston is excellent defensively (2.68 goals allowed per game).

Boston kills 25 percent of power plays and scores on 81.2 percent of them. Minnesota takes a lot of penalties (618 penalty minutes this season), so the Bruins have the advantage on special teams, in goal, and defensively. Take them to win on the road, where they’re 18-8-3. That’s almost as good as Minnesota is at home.

New Jersey Devils (+255) @ Calgary Flames (-320)

Calgary is the biggest favorite of the day. The Flames are coming off a shutout loss at Colorado, but returning home to host the Devils, who are 8-18-2 on the road, should result in a home win for Calgary. Take the Flames on the moneyline, and consider betting on them to win by at least two goals at -125 with Bovada. You’ll get better odds betting that more than six goals are scored (+100). Tampa Bay Lightning (-310) @ Seattle Kraken (+245)

Tampa Bay won in Vancouver to avoid going winless on the team’s recent four-game road trip through Canada. The Lightning will be glad to get south of the border and take on the Kraken in Seattle. The Lightning are better on the road (19-10-2) than Seattle is at home (10-17-3), and they have the advantage offensively, defensively, in goal, and on special teams.

Take Tampa on the moneyline and to win by two or more, which pays -120. The two-team parlay of Tampa and Calgary to win on the moneyline pays -137. Taking them both to win by two or more pays +230, which is particularly attractive.
