The New England Patriots are currently mired in a 0-4 slump and 1-3 against the spread over their last four games. They’ll have an excellent chance to turn their luck around this Monday night when they go on the road to face the worst team in the NFL in the New York Jets.

When the Patriots signed former NFL MVP Cam Newton to a one-year deal this offseason, it looked as though they had found the perfect replacement for Tom Brady to run their offense. But Newton has been a disappointment under center for the Pats with just two touchdown passes and seven interceptions in the six games he has played this season. His fumble inside the redzone in the final minute of the game against the Buffalo Bills last Sunday sealed a 24-21 loss for New England.

The New York Jets are the worst team in the NFL, and it isn’t even close. They are 0-8 on the season and 1-7 against the spread, with a staggering average losing margin of 18 points per game. The Jets are particularly hopeless on offense, where they rank dead last in the NFL in yards per game (259) and in points scored per game (11.8). To make matters even worse for the Jets this Monday night, starting quarterback Sam Darnold will not start due to a shoulder injury.

New England is 5-0 and 4-1 ATS in its last five games against the Jets, beating New York by a whopping 23.6 points per game over that stretch. When these two teams last met in October of 2019, the Patriots rolled to a 33-0 win over their division rivals. The Patriots aren’t as good as they were then, but the Jets have gotten worse, too.

While Newton and the Patriots have struggled, they’ve at least been competitive. The Jets, however, are completely lost this season. They may eventually start playing better if the front office decides to fire head coach Adam Gase, but until then, bettors should feel comfortable continuing to print money against them. Look for the Patriots to win comfortably as the Jets accomplish little to nothing on offense on Monday night.
