Pennsylvania gambling revenue rises to $5.2bn in 2022

Pennsylvania’s gambling industry posted total revenue of $5.2 billion in 2022, surpassing last year’s figure of $4.7 billion. Meanwhile, according to a report from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), taxes to state and local governments reached $12.2 billion. 

In December alone, Pennsylvania’s gaming and wagering industry recorded a 17% increase with a combined revenue coming from slot machines, table games, sports betting, iGaming, video gaming terminals (VGTs) and fantasy contests. The 18 casinos in the state saw a combined revenue of $134.6 million.

Slot machines saw an uptick of 4.1% to reach $2.4 billion, with Parx Casino leading the chart in highest gross revenue in slots with $393 million. 2022 revenue from table games at the casinos was $990,568,468, an 7.10% increase in revenue when compared to the same period in 2021. Wind Creek Bethlehem casino topped the chart in this category with a gross revenue of $243 million. 

Sports wagering 2022 revenue amounted to $401,208,108, an 17.96% increase in revenue when compared to the $340,113,160 generated in 2021. Valley Forge Casino Resort leads the pack with $209,988,982 in total gaming revenue. Revenue for fantasy contests was $22,297,399, a 23.9% decrease compared to last year.
