Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has closed its Northern Lights Theater and the Fire Pit Sports Bar & Grill in order to build a sportsbook facility.
The Northern Lights Theater has been operational for more than two decades. The decision to replace it with a sports betting venue was approved by Governor Tony Evers last year.
The CEO of Potawatomi Casino, Dominic Ortiz, said the new space would “exceed what you experience at a normal sportsbook” and provide customers with a “next-level experience”. He did not reveal the construction cost but said the transformation would make the location “the premier regional sportsbook hub”.
The facility will have a 120-foot video screen broadcasting multiple games at once. Potawatomi Casino representatives reminded guests present during the announcement that all bets are to be placed on-site.
The sportsbook is not the only reformation being undertaken by Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. A second-level renovation is underway, and it is expected to be finalized by the end of 2023. The new space is expected to feature an exclusive high-limit room.
Potawatomi Casino representatives have confirmed that the sportsbook venue will open by early 2024.
