Ronaldo odds & Champions League tips – Real Madrid vs. Bayern Munich

Bayern vs Real

Bayern vs RealTuesday, May 1 – 8:45p.m Local time – Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid, Spain

Real Madrid are fired up ahead of hosting Bayern Munich for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night.

The reigning European champions took a massive step in booking their ticket to the final in Kiev, as they carry the advantage from the opening leg with a 2-1 triumph.

Zinedine Zidane ringed 10 changes to the squad that won in Munich, as he oversaw his side warm up for the midweek Champions League fixture with a 2-1 victory over Leganes in the La Liga on Saturday.

Despite being maligned for considerable quotas over the course of the season, Gareth Bale gave the hosts the lead inside the opening 10 minutes with his 15th goal of the campaign. The Wales international scored a scrappy goal from six yards after Karim Benzema’s strike was blocked by defender Joseba Zaldua, before Borja Mayoral doubled the advantage with the simplest of finishes.

The 21-year old striker was initially thought to be offside when he scored a tap in from a yard out, but the cross appeared to have bounced off right back Unai Bustinza for the assist.

Darko Brasanac stole one back for the visitors but Real Madrid remained astute enough to get the job done. The win nonetheless was a pointless affair in the context of their La Liga title defense, as Barcelona were pronounced the newly crowned champions after a Lionel Messi hat-trick inspired the Blaugrana to a 4-2 win away to Deportivo.

Bayern Munich may have stumbled in the first leg against Real, but the Bundesliga champions bounced back ahead of their trip to the Spanish capital with an emphatic 4-1 win Eintracht Frankfurt at the Allianz Arena over the weekend.

Real Madrid will be without the services of right-back Dani Carvajal who is out with a hamstring strain, with centre-back Nacho and winger Lucas Vazquez highly poised to compete for the position.

Isco took part in the last training session on Monday, but his inclusion remains to be seen, taking into account he hasn’t fully recovered from a shoulder injury.

Bayern Munich on the other hand have dire injury concerns, beginning with Arjen Robben who has missed the trip to the Bernabeu due to a leg injury sustained by the winger in the first leg.

On top of the Dutchman’s exclusion is the enforced absence of Kingsley Coman who is out with an ankle injury, whereas Manuel Neuer continues to race against time with his recovery ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

The duo of David Alaba and Javi Martinez are however expected to be part of the match day squad having returned to fitness.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s impressive purple patch of eleven consecutive goals in the Champions League came to a resounding end during the first leg against Bayern. The 33-year old exhibited signs of burnout during the tie, with his closet effort on goal being a header well wide of the target and a long-range effort so bizarre it went out for a throw-in.

Be that as it may, hell hath no fury like a discontented Cristiano Ronaldo. One poor showing doesn’t challenge the fact that the forward holds the current record of 15 goals scored in 11 consecutive Champions League matches this season.

As such, the match against Bayern was more of a speed bump than an instantaneous halt for Ronaldo who looks set to unleash his salvo for a place in the Champions League final.

Bayern Munich vs. Real Madrid match prediction

Santiago Bernabeu will without question be a hostile territory for Bayern Munich, but the Bavarians will be confident at the hands of Jupp Heynckes- who propelled them to European glory in 2013.

Although both managers will revert back to their strongest sides having rested players over the weekend, the experienced Real Madrid look sharper and are unlikely to blow away their advantage seeing as they already have a foot in the final.
