San Francisco 49ers vs Los Angeles Rams betting picks | 10/3/22

49ers v Rams betting picks

Week Four’s Monday Night NFL game is a matchup between two divisional rivals and playoff caliber teams. It’s the San Francisco 49ers hosting the Los Angeles Rams and both teams are very intriguing. These teams met in last year’s NFC Championship game where the Rams won in route to their Super Bowl victory. This time around, the Rams are 2-1 and the Niners are 1-2. It’s going to be a great game and here are our picks for the Monday Night feature.

San Francisco 49ers vs Los Angeles Rams

For this contest, we are siding with the home team. The Niners have had a tumultuous start to the season where they lost their starting QB Trey Lance to a broken ankle. Fear not, however, as the Niners have a capable backup option in Jimmy Garoppolo. It was Jimmy G who led the Niners to the NFC Championship game in two of the past three seasons. However, it won’t be the offense that leads the Niners to victory in this game, it will be their elite defense. San Francisco currently have the league’s best passing defense and at home, that should be the difference.

The Rams are no joke, however. They have a great team with star players on both sides of the ball. After a week one loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Rams have rattled off two straight wins and will be feeling good coming into Monday Night. That being said, the Rams have averaged the third least rushing yards per game and will be forced to throw the ball a lot. That plays right into San Francisco’s hands and they should be able to lock down the Rams offense. While the Rams defense should give the Niners trouble, we like the Niners to cover at home and get to 2-2 on the season.

Brandon Aiyuk Over 49.5 Receiving Yards

Aiyuk has had a slow start to the season but this is a great breakout spot for him. The Rams have one of the best corner backs in the league in Jalen Ramsey and he should shadow the Niners’ number one receiver, Deebo Samuel. In turn, there will be less attention on Aiyuk and he should be in for a big game. Aiyuk has averaged 47.3 yards a game to this point in the season and he is better than that. Last year, in his second season, Aiyuk had five performances with over 90 yards across his last 10 games. Included in that is a game against the Rams where Aiyuk torched them to the tune of 107 yards. We expect a similar game from Aiyuk and he should feast on the Rams’ defense on Monday Night.

Allen Robinson Longest Reception Under 18.5 Yards

A few years ago, Allen Robinson was one of the most underrated receivers in the NFL. However, last year, he looked really bad and every bit the 30-year-old he is. Then, in the offseason he joined the Rams and everyone got excited about his prospects for this season. Unfortunately for Robinson, it has not gone to plan to this point. In two of his three games this season, Robinson has had less than 23 yards and has not shown any explosiveness. He has one catch over 20 yards this season and that shouldn’t happen in this game. The Niners have the best passing defense in the league and Robinson hasn’t shown the ability to beat bad defenses. Against a great defense, Robinson should really struggle and we feel confident he won’t catch any deep passes in this contest.
