Napoli vs. Cagliari

Napoli (5-0-0) made quick work of Sampdoria in a 4-0 road victory on Thursday. The win was Napoli’s second straight with a final score of 4-0, and the club has now outscored its opponents 14-2 through the first five matches of the season. Cagliari (0-2-3) on the other hand is winless through its first five matches and has been outscored 13-7 over that stretch, conceding at least two goals in all five of those games.

Napoli is going to win this match, but there isn’t any money to be made on that bet with the squad going off as a -350 favorite at home. Betting this game on the spread is an option, but betting on the OVER seems like an even better play. Napoli shouldn’t have much trouble scoring three or four goals on Cagliari’s porous defense, and Cagliari’s offense is good enough to potentially add a goal as well. Look for this one to go OVER the posted total.

Inter Milan vs. Atalanta

Two top-five Serie A clubs clash in this matchup as Inter Milan (4-1-0) hosts Atalanta (3-1-1). This will be an interesting clash of styles as Inter does most of its damage on offense with 18 goals through its first five matches this season and Atalanta does its best work on defense having conceded only four goals this season. That defense will be put to the test against Inter’s red-hot offense which has scored nine goals in the team’s last two matches.

Atalanta hasn’t faced a team as tough as Inter Milan yet. It wouldn’t be too surprising if they were to grind out a draw. But considering how much better Inter is on offense and the fact that this game is being played at San Siro, we’ll take our chances on the home team as a small favorite.

Empoli vs. Bologna

No matchup on this week’s Serie A card is more evenly matched on paper than the one between Empoli (2-0-3) and Bologna (2-2-1). Both have a goal differential of -3 this season as Bologna has scored seven goals and conceded 10 while Empoli has scored five goals and conceded eight.
