Sinner wins ATP Fans’ Favourite award after stellar 2024 season

Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner

Jannik Sinner has capped off a brilliant tennis season by winning the Fans’ Favourite gong at the 2024 ATP Awards.

The Italian went 73-6 across the season, winning two Grand Slams, eight titles overall and finishing the year No.1 in the world.

Despite two failed drug tests which led to a provisional suspension — and an ongoing investigation by the World Anti-Doping Agency — Sinner has maintained his popularity, winning the Fans’ Favourite award for the second-straight year.

“I just want to thank all the fans around the world for voting for me,” he said.

“It means so much to me because the votes are coming from all of you.

“You are the reason why I love to play tennis.

“The support has been amazing throughout this whole season.”

Sinner is a firm favourite to win next season’s first Grand Slam, paying just +175 across most tennis bookmakers for the 2025 Australian Open.

However, not everyone is a fan of the Italian, as Nick Kyrgios continues to be outspoken against the 23-year-old.

His latest comment came this week in response to Sinner’s coach, Darren Cahill, winning Tennis Australia’s 2024 Coaching Excellence award.

“This is a joke right — have some class and integrity people,” Kyrgios said in a comment on X.

The Australian has spoken on Sinner’s failed drug tests multiple times, saying he should have been suspended for longer.

Kyrgios himself makes a return to professional tennis in 2025 and is a dark-horse contender at the Australian Open, with Bovada putting him at +4000 to win the tournament.
