Stanford Cardinal vs. Oregon Ducks spread odds – NCAA betting & tips
Stanford vs. Oregon – 8:00PM EST, Saturday, September 22 at Autzen Stadium, Eugene, OR
Betting Line: Stanford -2
Over/Under: 56 points at 888 Sportsbook
A big Pac 12 early season matchup sees the 20th-ranked Oregon Ducks take on the seventh-ranked Stanford Cardinal in their first conference game in the 2018 NCAA football season.
Stanford is the betting favorite in this game at 888 Sportsbook and with good reason. They have played a much tougher schedule than the Ducks with wins over San Diego State, a ranked USC squad, and UC Davis. On the other side the coin Oregon is undefeated, but they have not played any legit teams beating Bowling Green, Portland State, and San Jose State.
This season Stanford is 3-0 SU with an ATS record of 2-1 and an O/U record of 0-3 and Oregon is also at 3-0 with an ATS record of 0-3 and an O/U record of 1-2.
Not many low scoring games between these Pac 12 rivals in the last decade or so, as in the last 10 games between the teams the Over record is 10-3 and in the last six games between them at Oregon the Over record is 5-1.
Oregon’s offense has lit it up so far this season averaging 51.7 ppg. However, they will be facing a Stanford defense that tops the nation only giving up an average of 7.7 ppg.
Stanford RB Bryce Love came in 2nd in the Heisman voting last season and he sat out the last game with an undisclosed injury. He has only rushed for 165 yards in two games and while the Oregon run defense held San Jose State to only 29 rushing yards in their last game Love rushed for 147 yards last season in Stanford’s 49-7 win over Oregon.
The Ducks have a balanced attack on offense ranking in the top 40 in the nation in passing and rushing yards per game. QB Justin Herbert has passed for 840 yards in only three games with 12 touchdowns, but also has been intercepted four times including twice in the last game facing San Jose State. He will be facing a stout Cardinal defense that has already forced seven turnovers on the season. The Oregon RB duo of CJ Verdell and Tony Brooks-James have each rushed for at least 177 yards on the season.
While Oregon ranks a solid 9th in the nation in run defense they only rank 78 in pass defense. Because of that their pass rush will be key in this game, but getting to the QB will tough since Stanford has a very good offensive line.
Love has yet to have a breakout game this season and this game may be the one after sitting out the last one. He is the big weapon on offense for the Cardinal, but quarterback K.J. Costello has played well with seven touchdowns and three interceptions and wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside leads the team with 13 receptions for 324 yards and already has five touchdowns.

Stanford vs. Oregon betting prediction
Oregon is a solid team that is looking to get back to their past glory and they can begin to do that with a home win over a top 10 Stanford team. However, that will not happen this Saturday.
Look for Love to have a big game and for the Stanford defense to play well. They will not shut down the Ducks, but they will not allow them to light up the scoreboard.
Love and a good defense equals an Oregon win and they will also cover the spread giving two points.
