Steelers v Browns NFL betting picks – Thursday Night Football

Pittsburgh Steelers v Cleveland Browns

After last week’s Thursday Night Football featured a matchup between two Super Bowl contenders, we have a dud this week as the 1-1 Cleveland Browns taking on the 1-1 Pittsburgh Steelers. It is a divisional game, so that provides some intrigue, but outside of that, this game may be relatively boring. That’s what happens when it’s Jacoby Brissett against Mitchell Trubisky. Regardless, we have some free betting picks to make it more interesting.

Steelers @ Browns spread pick: Cleveland -5

In this matchup between divisional rivals, we are going with the Browns. Although they just blew a game to the New York Jets where they gave up 14 points in the final two minutes, they have a strong rushing offense and should use that to defeat the Steelers. The Browns ran for 184 yards against the Jets defense, and considering the Steelers have an awful rush defense, they could be in for a repeat performance. Last year, the Steelers gave up the most rushing yards of any team in the NFL, and they will struggle with the Browns. The Browns have a great offensive line and two elite running backs. Those guys will cover up Jacoby Brissett’s inefficiency under center and lead the Browns to a big divisional win.

The Steelers are really bad and could be in for some big changes soon. They lost to the Patriots 17-14 last week and QB Mitchell Trubisky could not be relied upon. It could be time for the Steelers to turn to their most recent first-round pick, Kenny Pickett. Regardless, that isn’t happening this week and we have another opportunity to fade the Steelers. Although the Steelers won in week one, it was a fluky win where they forced six turnovers and still needed overtime to get the win. Brissett for the Browns is not a very good quarterback, but he can take care of the football and avoid turning the ball over. If he doesn’t turn it over, the Steelers will have a tough time keeping this game close and the Browns should cover.

Steelers anytime touchdown pick: Mitchell Trubisky

The Steelers offense is going to struggle to score in this game, and that makes it hard to count on any of their skill-position players to score. Mitch Trubisky, however, is a good value bet at +450 with Bovada. The Steelers QB is surprisingly quick and can scramble from time to time. The Browns defense should be after Trubisky this entire game, and that will mean he has to run in order to avoid taking sacks. We expect this to happen a lot in this contest, and if it happens in the redzone, Trubisky should be able to run it in the endzone. It’s a longshot, but well worth it at these odds.

Browns anytime touchdown pick: Kareem Hunt

The Browns have two elite running backs and both of them can destroy defenses in any given week. First, it was Hunt with two touchdowns. Last week, it was Nick Chubb who dominated to the tune of three touchdowns. It can be hard to pick who will score on any given week, so we are going with the value. Chubb is -150 to score and Hunt is +150. Hunt gets a lot of work, and considering we think the Browns will win, they should run the ball a lot in this game.
