Super Bowl LVII Odds: Is there early value in some longshots?

Bengals QB Joe Burrow

The NFL Draft is over and now the long wait for the NFL season begins. Next year’s Super Bowl looks as open as ever and all NFL fans can do is speculate. However, now can be a good time to place some future bets on next year’s Super Bowl champion.

In this article, we are only going to cover some longshots, as it doesn’t make sense to bet on favorites this far out. For a lot of the favorites, like the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, their price can only go up.

Taking favorites now may be a waste of time, but some longshots have good prices. Of course, they are outsiders for a reason, but as hype builds closer to the season, their odds may lower. Now is the time to pounce, so let’s find some value.

Cincinnati Bengals (+1800)

Last year’s Super Bowl finalists are once again being disrespected. Sure, their run last year was shocking, but they haven’t lost any key pieces and had a strong draft. It may seem unlikely they can repeat their success of last season, but why not? They are a young team that seemed to mature a lot throughout the season and now have a deep playoff run to build on. Joe Burrow is an elite quarterback and has the moxie to be a genuine star in this league. He is now a year older and should be even better. Many teams made flashy moves to leapfrog the Bengals in terms of Super Bowl betting odds, but the Bengals seem to have it figured out. This is great value for a young team that just lost in the Super Bowl. Their run seemed fluky at times last year, but at +1800, this is tremendous value.

Miami Dolphins (+2800)

Miami should be vastly improved on last season. They barely missed the playoffs with a 9-8 record and dealt with a ton of injuries. Even if they simply stay healthy this season, they will be a playoff team. Also, they have a new X-factor in Tyreek Hill. The star wide receiver was traded from Kansas City earlier in the offseason, and he could be what takes QB Tua Tagovailoa to the next level. Tua has had a rocky start to his career, but he could finally be healthy and this is his chance to show what made him a top-five pick. The Dolphins have a revamped offense and a new coach. If the pieces fall into place like they are projected to, Miami will be a surprise team next year. This is a bet on Tua, but at these odds, it’s definitely worth taking a shot on the third-year quarterback.

Philadelphia Eagles (+2800)

This is great value for almost the same reason as the Dolphins. The Eagles were stricken by injuries last season and limped into the playoffs. They had a phenomenal draft where they traded a first-round pick for an elite wide receiver to help their inconsistent quarterback. A.J. Brown should come into Philly and immediately dominate; he is the exact type of wide receiver to help Jalen Hurts look more consistent. This is Hurts’ second year as a starting QB and he could make the leap to being a good option. Philadelphia has a great defense and plays in a weak division. If Hurts is able to take the next step, Philly will build on their playoff run last season and be a Super Bowl contender. It may seem lofty to project Hurts to improve, but he’s still young and the addition of Brown will make a huge difference. At +2800, it’s worth taking a shot on the Birds.
